My father-in-law bought and installed a phone in Poland, from a company called TalkPro by AICO Systems (company has representation out of an agent in California). He bought another phone for us to use in the USA. It's a voip phone and was easy to install through our computer and dsl line. Since the calls are completely free 24/7 from TalkPro phone to TalkPro phone, my wife and her family now communicate several times a day with no worries of cost. I don't remember their website but probably easy to google it. We now have a TalkPro phone for Poland use only (although it can be used for anywhere in the world), a Vonage voip phone for our unlimited use within the U.S. and six other countries, and a regular landline for our dsl, local, 911, and monitored alarm system. Total communications bill is less than $60 monthly.

Its free when you call comp to comp. International calls - comp to phone: 0,01 $ per minute. For 10 $ you can talk for hours.
