FT:Chance to remake a capital city (Warszawa)

I think it is interesting article about our capital city.

That might soon change as a raft of new building projects looks set to turn it into Europe's largest cluster of high-rises and investors respond to calls from Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Warsaw's mayor, for her city to "climb higher".


Soviet Russia's gift is the point of reference for many of the new buildings being planned over the next few years. While it will still peek above Libeskind's tower, a 1bin zloty (L206m) project planned by Jan Kulczyk - one of Poland's richest men - will come in at 282m and will become Europe's tallest building.

Maybe in EU. Russians are building in Moscow 500m monster.

it isn't important if we are going to have the tallest. I just wanted to post something about changes in Warszawa (one of the most depresing Polish cities ;) )

Poetic licence. Whatever.

Never mind. This haphazard article reflects the various competing interests at work. What it missed out is the planned destruction of the few green areas in Warsaw using the excuse of "national interest" and "preparation for the 2012 Euro championships".
