Okay, so a lot has happened on this thread since I took a short break (painting my bathroom a really gay purple sort of colour if you must ask). How do my snail comments compare in intelligence with whatever else anyone has said?

Well, I've never heard that two people have the right to get married, only because they are heterosexual.. :)

should they be allowed to marry?
well straight people have done a fine job of messing up that institution, why shouldn't gay folks have the same chance to make a mess of it?

On a more sombre tone, exactly who are we as individuals to "allow" or "disallow" other individuals the right to make choices that simply do not concern us or our welfare?
That's a mighty arrogant position and inflated opinion of one's own importance and authority in the world that one has to take in order to entertain that question.

Take away the religious aspect of marriage and what are you left with? The legal aspects of marriage; a public declaration of commitment. Most of the laws regarding marriage are mostly there to assist one or other partner in the marriage should the other die, with a few financial incentives thrown in.

Any church that does follow the teachings of Christianity would not allow gay marriage as such to be carried out in church. However, they ought to read back to Leviticus and start sorting out their problems with eating shellfish and shaving beards off.

My questions are:
Should an unmarried heterosexual couple have any claim to eachother's property or possesions in the event of death?
If not, then why can't a homosexual couple (a relationship that can be weak or strong, short-lived or life-long, just like a marriage) get entitlement to the same rights.

The area that I see as more problematic is not necessarily directly related to the gay marriage question. It is that of adopting children. I don't belive that children adopted by gay couples or born to a lesbian mother in a lesbian relationship will be any more likely to become homosexual themselves. I do see that in any society, those children will be given an incredibly hard time by their peers. But even without gay adoption, there are children with a gay parent, so it is already a fact of life. It's just the kind of burden I wouldn't want to wish on any child because children can be so cruel.

absolutely agree. I don't understand why the heterosexual group have anything to say about homosexuality, espcially when it comes to Kinsey scale where some people who claim themselves to be hetersexuls would find out that thay might not be, but afraid to amit that or find out, or expolre it, which is fine too. Sexuality is people's bussines, I mean other people's bussiness and I find that that the hype baout homosexuals beings married or not is nobody's bussiness bu ttheir own. They are people like any other with differetn sexual preferances.

It is not my bussiness, as long as they are happy. I have homoxesual friends who just got married and I am happy for them.

This question is just another tool of social control in the society.

Actually in Islam a lot of men are gays due to women inaccessibility. If you read old turkish or arabic descriptions, they describe the beauty of boys in every city,so many travelled to find new boyfriends.
In Saudi Arabia it is very common to see men walking holding hands which would be shocking in the West.

Nonsense. Don't try to make It some libertanian issue because that's not the point. Except very few countries (like SA or Iran) faggotry is legal. The question is If central authority (because It must be its decision) should change the law and let 2 men or 2 woman "get married". If yes then why not make It legal to marry a horse or a group of people ? I would like to have 3 wives and that's definately not less normal than a guy sticking his dick into other's guy ass and wanting to call It a marriage. So you either give a special rights to one group of freaks, who through massive propaganda convinced many people that homo is normal and then you discriminate other people or you let anybody marry whoever and whatever they want and creat a total chaos in the whole legal system.

Sure gay people should be allowed to marry. I don't see why only straight people should suffer.
