I'm trying to find the grave of airman Stanisław Płachcinski. His body was repatriated from England on his death a few years ago.

Can anyone help?

I'm trying to find the grave of airman Stanisław Płachcinski.

have u tried something like this: komitetpowazkowski.home.pl/Mapa.htm

starepowazki.sowa.website.pl/Povoskoviana/plany2.html

it shouldn't be too difficult to find the plot number and deceased

Thanks for trying.
Hmmm - no luck.
Probably because he was cremated and his remains placed in an urn. I'll just have to contact his widow (in England) again and see if she can be more precise than "in the airmen's section".

Hello - I am thinking he was my grandfather. My father was from that area and Stanislaw would have been born at the same time. If you have further information about his personal life it would be helpful to determine if he really was. My father has passed away and his brothers too so I have no one else to ask. I have been trying to research family history.

Thank You
Michael Plachcinski

There are two Powązki cemeteries which are often confused, the Old Powązki and the Military Powązki, check the other one:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powązki_Military_Cemetery

he might very well been buried there.

[Moved from]: Looking for email address to Powązki Cemetery

I'm looking for the official website or email address for Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw. I have found an unofficial website in google but when I sent an email no-one responded. Does anyone have any suggestions where I could find this ? Thank you

It may be helpful to contact j.plachcinski@btinternet.com as he was involved with the internment of Stanislaw's ashes in the military cemetery

P£ACHCIŃSKI: probably originated as a toponymic tag to identify someone hailing from the viłlage of Płachty.(Canvaston, Coverton).

Belated thanks for all the answers - I've been going to his grave for some time now - and sending photos to his English widow. Factoid - he was involved in the longest single air combat in history. Intercepted by German fighters over the Bay of Biscay, flew back at sea level - you can read all about it somewhere online. Stan was the navigator. Great bloke and family friend.
