How would my surname Sharon be spelt in Polish?

Hello,

My surname is Sharon - a Hebrew derived surname. This isn't my family's original name anyway but since I am of Polish descent and am in touch with Polish people, I thought how would I spell it in Polish if I were to move to Poland someday. That would make it easier for Poles to pronounce and would make it less foreign.

I thought maybe it should be Szon but I actually saw there are many more people with Szaroń as their surname. Since Sharon is a rather generic and widespread name in general I wonder if I should be using the latter. Also it might be more correct if it follows the rules of -ń suffix such as in Toruń or -ński such as in Gawliński?

I'm not entirely sure since i'm not a native Polish speaker.

I meant Szaron or Szaroń, not Szon... stupid phone. :)

I think it would be Szaron, with a normal n. I see no reason for ń and the name of the former prime minister Ariel Sharon is written like that.

So the spelling Szaroń is just a different name, unrelated to mine?

The surnames Szaroń as well as Gordoń exist in Poland, although they are both used in other languages without the palatalising acute accent over the letter "ń".

The question is if Szaroń is actually the Polish Sharon (like, for example, Polanski in German/English and Polański in Polish) - or is it an entirely different name?

It's like with Philips and Phillips.
