My closest Y DNA relative is a Moslem from SSW of Kassan, Rashid Faskotinov, and he and I tested as R1a1a... we differ by 5 markers out of 67 tested markers. My ancestors came from NE Germany, now NW Poland. My family has mostly brown hair (blonde to black), grey, blue or hazel eyes, and white skin. We are all of the Protestant Religion, there are no records of any Moslems going back 300 to 400 years. I figure my ancestors came from the Tartar area along the Volga River with the Vikings who used the River as a trade route about a thousand years ago . My ancestors probably came to Germany/Poland before many Tatars converted to Islam, but it is possible they came by some other means, as being invited by the Polish kings to protect the Polish Royal Army. My great great uncle was in the inner circle protecting the Prussian King in the 1800's.

Yes. I am of Polish/Tatar/BylorusianLithuanian/Ukrainian origin. My mother's side is the PolishBylorusianLithuanian Tatar origin.
A number of East European Tatars emigrated from that area circa 1907 to NJ/NY area, settling in Bayonne, and also Greenpoint in Brooklyn, NY.
There is a Moslem Mosque in Greenpoint. I believe it is the American Moslem Society, Inc, first known as the Lithuanian Tartar (original spelling of the Society had the "r" in it).

I am interested in the mark on your leg as I had one and my daughter had the same, what it would call a freckle on the inner part of my right lower leg, shin.

My second cousin has the look, Tatar/Oriental in his facial structure and eyes, while his brother does not.
There is a Tatar Society of NY in existence.

I am still researching my background concerning Lipka tatars. My grandmother on my father's side maiden name was Lipka. Her parents had a horse ranch (with well bred horses) in what is now Poland during WWII - at that time the location was eastern Germany. At the end of the war the Russians took all. She later changed her last name to Lepter when she came to USA but her marriage certificate from Connecticut shows Lipka as last name in one part of document and Lepter in another. Could there have been a reason for changing her last name (political/cultural)?

Thanks

Hello...I am American of 1/4 Polish descent. My Polish heritage is from the historical Podlachia region (one ancestor from n.e. poland...one record had the town as Filipki, Poland, one from the Belorussian side- both ancestors identified as "polish"). My mother (whom I inherit this from) doesn't look particularly tatar, but AB type blood runs down her line, and it seems it's probable that the source of AB blood in northeast europe is helped by the asiatic invaders.

Not sure I see the mongol stain on me...haha...
