The father was probably unknown.
On your papers there should be an address from where you were adopted.
That's where you have to make contact.

My story is basically the same as yours.

You were born in Poland and adopted by American citizens ? -Yes ? Me too !!

Okay, where you are in your search, is pretty much were I was at, 1-year ago. But my search has had some speed bumps along the way. I just received the address for my mom (back in Poland), just this week.

This week I also got the address for my step-sister's mother. My step-sister was adopted from the same orphanage as me. We are not biologically related. We began the search for her mother, about 5 months ago.

If you want to trade notes, feel free to contact me thru this website or post a message. -I'll check back periodically.

Ask your adoptive parents for the original papers; it should have the name of the town and the orphanage or even the adoption agency. They will have the info about your parent(s).
I'm not sure if they can disclose it or not but I cannot see why they wouldn't. You will need your birth certificate, and you will need a copy of the adoption papers. Call the orphanage, town government or agency where you were adopted from and tell them your situation.
Ask them for all the documents you will need and insist if that's all. Polish bureaucracy moves in slo-motion and even in reverse. Sometimes they ask for things they never told you to obtain.
Good Luck and Godspeed, I hope you find them.

You could try http://www.adopcjawarszawa.pl/kontakt.html
They may be able to point you in the right direction. However, it depends on the terms of your adoption. In many cases, the court orders the identity of the birth parents to be destroyed. Finding them would then be a rather daunting proposition.

Hello,
I too am adopted from Poland. I was adopted in the early 80's. Have any of you tried to find your biological parents? I was adopted to an American family. I have all the paper work with names, where I was born, etc. but I have not been able to find them. I will be going to Poland in about a month just to see the area that I was born. I think I would like to find my parents, but just do not seem to be able to move forward with the seach. I was adopted from Wroclaw. Does anyone know if the opranage is still there? If so, where? Does anyone else have an simular experiences as I?

How old were you when you were adopted ?

reason for asking. Some babies are adopted straight from the (birth) hospital

There is more than one. Do you have an address ?

I can look in the phone directory for a number, if it helps.

contact me thru Polish Forums. Try to officially register with a username.

My story is similiar to yours. I already located my family - back in Poland.

I have a few ideas to suggest.

If you have a name and maybe some other information, like approximate age and a city, I could check a couple Polish social networking sites for you.

Send me a message - okay...

The first step is which town you were born in. Adoptions in Poland are handled by local adoption societies, town by town. They will have everything you need to know, and perhaps can change your life.

I was adopted from Poland too, in the early 80'2. I was told I was form a family of 10-12 children. I guess i was 2 yrs old when i got to the orphange in wroclaw, and 4 when I was adopted and brought to America. I have no idea where to start to look for my family.

Assistance in tracking down biological parents by adopted children may perhaps be obtained from the Rutkowski detective agency: biuro@rutkowskidetektyw.pl;
Good luck - Powodzenia!

yes, I entered them all in facebook but no luck. I wasn't sure if they had changed their last names and I couldnt see a lot of pictures or dates because many profiles are set to private.

I just looked at Nasza Klasa but it doesnt translate into english well so its hard for me to navigate and use.

register with this forum.... make some posts.... send me a PM with your family name and i'll check nasza klasa for u.

or just post your family name here and see what happens.

a problem with Polish names is that if u don't use correct spelling / Polish alphabet in some search engines u end up with nothing.

My family's name is Pruchnick±, but I don't know if my siblings were adopted too or not, so their last names may have changed.

Hello,
I wrote you a few years ago and I have been able to find my biological family. It is an amazing story.
I am going back to Poland to meet my biological family this summer again and would like to see if I can find the orphange in Wroclaw this time.
I know I was in the "Children's Home #2."
Any information would be great, or any leads would be helpful.
Thank you for any help and look forward to hearing from you.
