Born in Nicaragua. Can I and my family (TEFEL) become Polish by ancestry?

My name is Gustavo Tefel, born in Nicaragua in 1966. My ancestors were Polish and came to America in the 1800's, first to New York and then they were heading to California in the 1830's on a route that trans-boarded from the Carebean to the Pacific Oceans in Nicaragua. When they landed in Granada, after a few days of traveling, first south in the Atlantic Ocean, then in the Caribbean to Rio San Juan and last to Lake Nicaragua or the "Fresh Water Ocean" as the Spanish used to call our beautiful lake in the 15th and 16th centuries, they fell in love with Nicaragua and stay here.

I like to know if it is possible to become a Polish Citizen? If the answer is YES, where should I start?

The answer is YES! Just go to your nearest Polish Embassy, walk in and exclaim that your 200 year old ancestors were Polish and therefore you want Polish citizenship. In a matter of seconds a red carpet will unfurl, you'll be given your new passport and two first-class tickets to Warsaw.

SHT, they might be abrupt, but they are realistic. Do you really think the guy stands a single chance of getting Polish citizenship via such distant ancestors? Then think again.

Don’t you think he already knows that? Besides rozumiemnic phrased it quite nicely and teflcat gave him a hint of going about it in a different way if he wants, there’s no reason to be obnoxious. PS. Abrupt is not the word I would use to describe their comment, there's simply no call for that.

No, I think he doesn't, why he would be asking if he knew? I was referring to Harry's and Pantless posts, ok, maybe no need for sarcasm here, but they are quite right in their evaluaton of the chance.

Yeah. Maybe they are - some people are just bitter by nature. Civilised manner or not, the main point is the same. The guy shouldn't count on ancestry. Which does not mean he can't do it in other ways (work placement, opening business in Poland can in the end lead to the citizenship).

A choice observaton.Yes, I admit it, I troll the PF forums to deliver answers an 8 year old could Goggle in 10 seconds or answers that require about three seconds of logical contemplation (like in this case, 200 year old ancestors and citizenship) and upon providing such an answer, I do inject some spite, a dash of sarcasm and surrounded by globs of bitterness.

Of course, delivering cryptic answers such as telfcat's "of course it's possible" for you are "quite clear", so maybe I should be more tolerant of idiotism in general. Seriously. Genius ShortHairThug. Genius.
