I am curious to found out the American meaning of the Polish name Janek. I know that Jan means John because my great-grandfathers name was Jan Rucinski but I recently had a letter translated from Polish to English and it mentioned a Janek and sister in law ans I am wondering if that is another version of the name Jan. If anyone could help me out that would be greatly appreaciated. Thank You!!

As far as I am aware it means Jan but a nice way of saying the name, can be used for like parent to child but can be used in other contexts. I am sure someone else will confirm for sure, I think it is like nice Jan..... I use the same sort of thing with my Gfriends name, but her friends also call her it from time to time.

I am curious to found out the American meaning of the Polish name Janek.

Janek is a diminutive form of Jan, so in English it would be a diminutive form of John.

Ryan Jahnke is a retired figure skater so maybe janek could possibly be the persons last name & they just call him by his last name

Janos and Janusz are names. Janusz is definitely Polish. Janos might be Slovak.

I am English , and my name is Ian , but most people in Poland call my Jan or Janek , or Janusz.... Ian is the Scottish form of John , so its all the same really....i guess in Russia i would be Ivan , in Germany Johann...
