I am desperate for help...please.

I live in Australia, and have no idea of my Polish relatives, no matter how hard I try.
My Father was born in Bazaar, 28/09/1925, his name was Michal Orlik, parents and family unknown, although he once mentioned a sister Theresa, who was shot by the Germans.
He came out to Australia as a misplaced person, departed Trieste, Italy 20/10/1949 ( I have located that paperwork) My Father never spoke of his past, and is now dead.
Please, I know I am clutching at straws, but will someone please help me, by checking church records, (he was a Catholic) if I found out parents names, I might be able to further this painful, frustrating journey I am on, to find my living relatives.
I cannot believe that I have no living relatives, and would appreciate any help this forum and members could provide me,

Many thanks Linda Ashton

born 28/09/1925 Bazaar, poland

There is a village Bazar in central Poland in Lodz Province. Double "aa" would be highly unusual in Polish locality names. There sems to be a church there, but I wasn't able to find any contact information. The small church in Bazar, belongs to the Rozprza Parish, and is located just a little south of Rozprza (drag the map a little, linked below):

Parafia Rozprza,
pw. Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny
ul. Rynek Piastowski 23
97-340 Rozprza
tel. (044) 6158025

Sadly, you may want to consider that idea to be true. The area was relaively close to the city of Lodz which had a large Jewish population. Many Jews hid in the area's villages and if Germans found a Jew to be hiding in in a village, ofen the entire village was destroyed - i.e. all inhabitants executed on the spot. Not saying this is what happened with your family but there is that possibility.

Good luck.

Hi. I have recently started trying to trace my maternal family. It can be frustrating but I think where would we be without the Internet!!
My mother was born in Poland in 1948 and her life in Poland was only discussed lightly and I, like you, only have odd names to go on but have a go and see how you get on. I have found that my enquiries , via email, have been met with apprehension - which I understand. If I received such an email from a stranger abroad I too would be careful about what I said, if I responded at all.
Good luck with your search. Julie :)

Julie,
I understand that you may have had some bad experiences when dealing with others over the internet. Unfortunately, there is a lot of dishonest people out there trying to use the gullible ones but I do not think it is fair to pass a judgement on someone or something you know nothing about.
I have used the services of the polishcitizen.info.pl and WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND its services to anyone that needs some assistance in research or other dealings with the authorities in Poland.

Many thanks, for your reply.
I was surprised when I saw on my Father's Death Certificate Bazar, as whenever he mentioned Poland, (which was not often) he only mentioned Krakow, I am not sure where to go from here, thankyou, linda

hello z_darius,
You are correct, my Dad was Born in Bazar, not Bazaar.
Do you know if that little church in Bazar has an email address, I have gone to the map, but I do not understand the Polish language, I am in Australia, so it needs to be in English for me.
If you could post a link to contact them, I would be so very grateful....thankyou, Linda

Hi I never pass judgement - I talked of apprehension which is a natural reaction. The people I have contacted are distant family and I expect them to be apprehensive wondering why after a long time I am contacting them.

Hello Teresa, the numbers of Orlik in Krakow and Lotz are lower than I thought they would be, that has to be good news, I hope. Kind regards, Linda
