Why Polish aren't white??

what nonsense bratty boy....was it propaganda when German ppl "of a certain age" were practically dribbling with joy over my yellow haired blue eyed kids? "ahhhh! super haar!" (and no this just didnt happen only once)

Exactly!
It was propaganda by moviemakers and authors after the war was over (that was actually my point). Just watch famous war movies again!
The Germans themselves didn't gave a sh*it during the Nazi time if they were brunette or blonde...most of the war heroes and the political echelon were everything but.

So sorry to kill another myth!

I saw a green Polish guy the other day, I can only assume he overdid it on the bongs or hot knives ;)

Polish aren't white? They are when taking a whitey after too much hash.

propaganda by moviemakers

Anton Diffring played loads of Nazi German roles with his blond hair and blue eyes and ability to be sinister.

Genau...I doubt he would had made such a career if he would be just your average (meaning not blonde) German with the british WWII movie industry...highly doubtful!

many idiots in America think that Polish people, and not just them but ALL foreigners from Europe are not white, simply Polish, or German, or Russian etc. that u have to be an American to be white

Yup, another reason why I find Americans (those X removed from their heritage) to be retards. At this point it's at a level of compounding.

I was born in the U.S., but my parents are immigrants. I was raised in Polonia. My first language was polish. I am know all of the traditions and cultural aspects. Half of my family lives in Poland, etc. It wasn't until I 'grew up' that I began to cherish my heritage - prior to that I was as American as they come. Now embracing my culture, I am not an American (to them).

It is racism, albeit it's subtle. It exists because they can get away with it. Nobody would dare say stupid stuff like that to a minority of a non-white skin color as they'd never get away with it. To me though? What am I going to do? Who will I complain to? I can rant all I want and people will look at me and think:

- You are white
- You have blond hair
- You have blue eyes

How the F are you being discriminated against? But it happens. I've spoke about it with my brothers and parents - we've all experienced it in some way, shape, or form.

All minorities are cool with me, and some Americans are, but the narrow minded, 1-dimensional ones are retarded. They've been to 2 major U.S. cities so they've 'seen the world' and they've tried sushi so they know 'ethnic food.' Clueless.

Never let it get to you. Think of witty comebacks if you want to make things fun.

Eh, I've never heard this before. I'm mostly Polish-Russian and no one has ever question me being white before. If anybody did question that, I'd just label them a complete ignorant moron or a wanna-be joker and ignore them.

Ironically, the Reconstruction era Ku Klux Klan was established in Pulaski, Tennessee by former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forest. I guess there is no figuring ignorant bigots?

The other major reason is that race has a lot to do with social status. Polish immigrants "everyone knows" are good for cheap, manual work. They typically do not occupy high places on the social prestige scale. Whiteness is a flexible concept that can expand to include or contract to exclude almost anyone.

It's the "one-drop" ting innit - if you're not 100% white, you're black!

And, as some consider blacks to be good-for-nothing, likewise with Poles who are considered nothing but "cheap labour" (something I was asked recently funnily enough; to which I replied, no actually I'm overpriced, lol :) )

Poles have done excellent in the US, especially the Northeastern part. Where does this stereotype come from? We aren't cheap labor over here.

What I find funny is that some of you actually think you are "white" and are actually upset. Whiteness is a social-historical construct, not some biological essence that you can have. It is used to include some and exclude others. Historically, Polish people were considered Slavic in the United States, not white. Whiteness belonged to Western/Northern Europeans.

Either way... why be so upset about being excluded from one of the most violent and ugliest labels in history? Growing up in Poland I was always taught that I was "Polish", not "white". Color doesn't matter there as much as it does in the West. Or have things changed as Poland attempts to play catch-up with the West?

From a biological point of view the white race is a fiction. No one is white, but some are stupid enough to believe it or to want it.

Not to resurrect an old thread, but I've been told by some of my friends too that I'm not "white" because of my Slavic blood. I live in the Northern US too, so it's not just a southern thing (I was born in the South though lol).

My one friend in particular told me he doesn't consider Slavs or Scandinavians white.. It really doesn't bother me, but I just find it a bit amusing.

Most Scandinavians are mighty white, apart from some black Swedes that they invited many years ago. The Poles are the same, I've seen some coloured Poles but VERY few. It gets on my wife's nerves that I am whiter than her, LOL. I don't really think much about how white I am, it doesn't bother me. I am as I am.

I am one of the palest people you will ever meet, lol. So when he told me I wasn't white, I was just like "Are you smoking something?!" My mother likes to call me a vampire all of the time because of how fair-skinned I am!

Yet some of my friends, despite how pale I am, don't believe the Slavic or Nordic people are white... they believe that they are their own race..?

Me too. I am from the NE of Scotland and am paler than most Poles. Where are you from, exactly? Have you been to Poland?

This post seems a bit odd to me. If your not black, your white. Not that there is anything wrong with being either. I live in the Usa. and have never heard of anyone being called black that was Polish.

It's not that we're being called black. Race isn't just black or white to me. My friends believe Slavs in general are their own UNIQUE race. Not black or white. :) Even though I'm freakishly pale... my mother thoroughly enjoys calling me a vampire frequently, lol.

I have never experienced any racism other than black and white. I do not consider a person telling the occasional Polish joke a racist.

Why would you want a picture of that? As proof only? Ask SzwedwPolsce, he'll tell you. It's not such a new thing. Ever heard of Martin Dahlin, the Swedish football player of 15-20 years ago? He's black.

farm2.static.flickr.com/1043/680428483_13ce26d3d2.jpg,
there are plenty regular folk that are black outwith sport.

the only thing ive noticed living in america, is that alot of americans who get their information from holocaust movies and ww II movies think that all polish are darker skinned jewish hebrew types.

Henryk Larsson wasn't black, Cardno. He isn't clasically white but he definitely isn't black. Some brown people are of darker complexion than he is.

They are idiots to think so just because the movies are in black and white. And there is no such thing as the NWO...conspiracy idiots...
