I am looking for information on Jakob Szewczyk born July 1877 in Austria. Jakob married Anna Sophie Kocylo<sp?> Oct 1902 in Dydnia. Jakob resided or emigrated from Sanok May 1903. Anna followed from Bremen Germany in 1904.

Anna born Sep 1880 was the daughter of Josef Kocylo and Sally Milczanoska. Any help with tracing these families would be greatly appreciated.

I've also seen the name spelled Swaczyk but thought perhaps it was an incorrect spelling. Could that be a legitimate spelling? He was a blacksmith.

I am looking for the Szewczyk family too. I am looking for Maria Szewczyks family. She married Joannes Toczko. The family seemed to be farmers in Wara. The Toczeks are still in Wara. Do you know if Jacob had a sister or any family member named Maria?

I am looking for the Szewczyk family too.bjtoczek:

According to the ship's passenger list and naturalization papers my Jacob spelled his name Szwaczyk. I've no way of knowing if that is correct or not. Sorry i have no information on Jacob's parents or siblings yet

I am also looking for a Szewczyk who immigrated to America on the ship Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse. She left from Bremen, Germany and arrived at Ellis Island May 18, 1909. Since she never became a U.S. citizen, it is hard to track her. Plus, the manifest handwriting sucks. Her father's name was Lukarz and her mother's name was Mary Malinoska. She lived in Maziarnia, Galicy, the lower part of Poland. Ever heard of her? Or any tips? Thanks.

Oh, and depending on which version you read, her name is Zofia, or sometimes Sofia. Thanks again.

Sorry I can't help. I can't find any family for Jacob Szwaczyk. I did though find some records that indicate he could read and write so I suspect Szwaczyk is the correct spelling.

There were two Szewczyk families living in Perth Amboy, NJ, one on Elizabeth St; the other on State St. I don't know if they were related. I believe they spelled their names differently [one was Sefczek], but pronounced them the same. The one on Elizabeth St. was from the Sanok area.
You can find them on the census records
