What use is an irish childs pps number in poland?

child's polish father living in poland has asked the irish mother for the child's irish pps number to get a job in poland. the father is very abusive and was told to go home by the court to get help but he has rang a year later looking for this information. he is on the birth cert but there is a barring order against him contacting the mother and child. she has since been told by a polish person living in ireland the the only use for it would be to get an irish passport for the child. any info on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Sounds seriously dodgy. Give him nothing, he has no right to that info if he has been deported. He might be looking to get a passport for the child for some strange reason, kidnap, getting access to ireland again as the parent of a citizen. Could it be to do with claiming childrens allowance? Run a mile.

Public Service Number (PPS Number) is a unique reference number that helps to you to gain access to social welfare benefits, public services. He may need it in PL for applying to certain offices. I would be inclined to provide the details to the Irish consulate in Warsaw and ask him to request it from there and explain what he wants it for.

My suspicion is perhaps that he's trying to claim benefits from Ireland (via the Polish system) and they've requested the PPS number as a result. It's about the only plausible explanation I can think of - they'll need the PPS number to deal with the Irish on the matter.

Certainly, if he's psychotic enough to be banned from contacting mother/child, then he should be told to take a hike.
