I am the only son of the only son that made it to the United States after World War II. My father, Bolesław, made his way (in reverse) through Canada and London and Bologna and Monte Cassino and North Africa and Palestine and Persia and Siberia and started in the farmlands around Wilno. His father's name was Antoni and he was taken into custody in 1939.

I have checked many sources that all of you have posted over time. I am now waiting confirmation from the U.K.

Like I indicated, I am the only one with my surname in the area where I currently reside. There are other "Bobrowskis" in New York State, and many others throughout the country. But, I have extreme confidence that I am not related to any of them, as the only relative of my father to come to the US was his aunt, a Sister of Saint Joseph.

So, I am asking for additional information, particularly if you currently reside in Lithuania in the area of Vilna (Wilno) and have a surname similar to mine.

His father's name was Antoni and his mother Aniela. He was arrested and taken into custody in 1939 before being sent to a Komi labor camp.

There are other "Bobrowskis" in New York State, and many others throughout the USA. But, I have extreme confidence that I am not related to any of them, as the only other relative of my father to come to the USA was his aunt, a Sister in the Order of Saint Joseph.

So, I am asking for additional information, particularly if you currently reside in eastern Poland or Lithuania in the area of Vilnius (Wilno) and have a surname similar to mine.

Phillip, if you think he lived in Vilnius area, you must also take into account that he could have his surname Lithuanized. He could become Babrauskas or Bobrauskas.

There was a German author from the last century named Johannes von Bobrowski. Perhaps a relation? He claimed either Balto-German or East Slavic, i.e. Wendish, origins and lived around the time of WWII.

Hi, my mothers family name is Bobrowski, when her father came to Canada the name was changed to Bobroske when he went thru immigrations, they was one brother that missed the boat and they lost track of him and an older sister that ended up on the eastern US somewhere. As seems to be normal for that time frame they lost track of family members.
