Hello,

My grandfather's name was Teofil Joseph Zablocki and he was born in 1890 in Poland. Unfortunately my family has no information on him. I lived in the US, and I was wondering how I could find out where he was born, what were his parents names, and if he had brothers and sisters. Any assistance is sincerely appreciated. I thank you.

Unfortunately my family has no information on him.

If you don't have any information on where he was born then I think that your chances to get something more about him are slim.

Not necessarily, check his immigration records, Alice Island records or some other port, ships manifest can yield a lot of information it will show his place of last residence, most likely it will be his place of birth or an area you should be looking at. Perhaps someone has kept some old correspondence with family in Poland?

I was able to find that he was born on May 6, in Lomza, Russia. He came to the US from Bremen leaving March 10, 1907 and arrived in the US on March 29, 1907 on the vessel "Wursburg".

Looking at Ellis Island's records, I dont see his name and dont see a link to anyone who might have been his father.

Here is a list of folks from Lomza on the Wurzburg in 1907, might be a good start as Lomza was pretty small back then.

You can find some records for Teofil Zablocki residing in NY, World War I Draft Registration Cards (1917-1918), 1930 United States Federal Census, World War II Draft Registration Cards (1942), Selected U.S. Naturalization Records - Original Documents, (1790-1974). 1930 Census records indicate he was married, finding his marriage certificate will also give you the information you’re looking for if that’s the same Teofil. He had to be married in US since he was aboput 17 when he immigrated.

Thank you for the feedback. I was able to look at those, but so far there is no further information about brothers/sisters/parents. I've emailed a few websites out of Lomza, Poland to see if they can point me in the right direction out there. My father believes he had an uncle Anthony (Tony) Zablocki, but that's when he was very young - like 5 years old, and that was it.
