Correct way to say the date in Polish?

I was wondering the correct way to say the date in Polish. I have read two seemingly conflicting sources.

Today is the 22nd of January, 2013

Is it:

a) dwudziesty drugi stycznia dwa tysiące trzynaście

or

b) dwudziestego drugiego stycznia dwa tysiące trzynaście

Which one is more correct, or is there another way?

This first is better.
The other is more often used for talking about past events e.g., The January Uprising broke on .............

And it also could do with a slight improvement

b) dwudziestego drugiego stycznia dwa tysiące trzynaście

trzynastego.

Actually, the first one is correct and the second one is not (assuming you want to translate your sentence - today is ...).

You would use "dwudziestego drugiego" when saying something like "This happened on the 22nd ..." or "Let's meet on the 22nd ...".

You forgot about trzynaście/trzynastego.
