I'm gonna learn Polish in a month!

I've been here since january but I haven't even tried to learn polish, I got too scared. However, as I mentioned in a previous post, I missed out on a 8000.- a month opportunity because I don't speak polish. So now i'm determined to challenge myself and pick up a working knowledge of Polish in 30 days. Plus I feel like a bastard coming here and expecting to get by with english.just The goal is for me to be able to read children's books in Polish within a month. I might ask for help once in a while with translations etc.

It can be done!

when you say your going to learn Polish in a month, what level are you looking to achieve??

How about something like - Being able to buy a train ticket Being able to enquire about a bill Being able to tell your director to pay you on time Whatever you choose, good luck :)

Do you speak any other languages masks98?
One of the things I find about languages is that it is better to do a little all the time than a lot in a small amount of time, that is just for me and may not apply to you.
I wish you luck. I also think Polish forum should run a test for you at the end of the month? ;0)

jagoda12: good luck!!! you will need it. I agree haha. I thought the same about Spanish and after a month I was able to remember that I have to put an adjective after a noun. I'm joking. It can be a good motivation, but remember that what counts is an effect, not 31 days. However, it's also funny and attests that you aren't thinking straight at all, I'm sorry.

I speak french because i Lived in Geneva for 10 years. I used to have a basic grasp of german, completely lost it, but i'm gonna get around to that one too.

And yes I expect someone here to challenge me within a month:)

no I know pshoprashum, ktooragojina, jien dobri, and thats it. I've been here since january, havent been forced to learn polish because everyone speaks english at some level.

masks98: pshoprashum, ktooragojina, jien dobri fair enough! you are at beginner level. no doubt your partner speaks good English, this can be a deterrent to learning if she is acting as your interpreter. Duży piwo - even more useful
