Yeah, certainly :)
You can also say it shorter way: "Słabo mówię po polsku"

Other useful expressions:
Ile to kosztuje? (How much is it?)
Szukam... name of place (I'm looking for...)
Jak dojechać na lotnisko? (How to drive to the airport?)
Poproszę bilet do (place) / na (event) (A ticket for ... please)
Poproszę jeden bilet ulgowy (half priced ticket) / bilet normalny (regular ticket) (One half priced/regular ticket, please)
Poproszę jedno duże piwo (One 0.5 L beer, please)
Piwo z sokiem (a beer with juice)
Ile płacę? (How much I pay?)
Podobasz mi się (I like you)
Postawić ci drinka? (Can I buy you a drink?)
Z którego peronu odjeżdża pociąg do Krakowa? (What platform does a train to Cracow depart?)

Why don't you just buy a basic phrase book? Some are under $10 and will give you phonetic translations as well. You also have the added bonus, of having almost a year to learn them.

i found "bredzisz, jakby cię fura z gnojem przejechała" very useful on my last trip

Here is how you use it.

Ile to kosztuje?............................................................. ......(How much is it?)

Panie, tu wszyscy w kolejce stoja!.............(Hey mister, you need to get back and stand in line like the rest of us!)

bredzisz, jakby cię fura z gnojem przejechała! No ile to kosztuje?....(Shut up you!, so how much is it?)

I'm confused: what has fura - z gnojem or otherwise - to do with kosztuje in this sentence?

confused

well, that's a polite way of saying, you know what mister? I don't really care about your opinion much, I'm just asking how much the item costs and I'll stand in line when I'm ready.

I apologize for the confusion.

Polish is really complicated but there are also other benefits that will make it worth it. When you learn it you can communicate with Slovakian and Czechs and with a little more effort and some extra study time you could easily learn Russian, Serbian or Macedonian.

There is a serious danger that visitors who don't speak Polish face in Poland: after they use one of the laboriously memorized phrases in Polish they receive an answer - also in Polish. What do you do then? ;)

i live 4 hours from canada, and yes it can be easy, but it can be hard. from what i know, a lot of Europeans(and i could be 100% wrong and will admit my shame) have a much better time learning languages because they are so diverse there. where the US, we have spanish and English, mostly English. we dont get exposed to other languages :)
