What is the plural of Zloty?

Zloty, Zloties, Zlotys.... or something completely different.

I'm writing an article in English, but want to get it right.

Hmm... ok, what about if I were writing in English "I need to exchange a bunch of zlotys"?

Edit:
To use the word in English (I'm backtracking now), I'd stick to using the singular for all numbers:

1 Zloty, 2 Zloty...
1 Euro, 2 Euro...
1 Quid, 2 Quid...
etc.

What is the plural of Zloty?

in Polish its Złote and Złotych

use Złote with 2, 3 and 4 and then 22, 23, 24... 102, 103, 104... etc. as long as the number ends with 2, 3 or 4

use Złotych with 0, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11-21, 25-31, 35-41... etc. as long as the number ends with zero, one, and then 5-9 etc.

that forms change endings when used in different cases

Surely this only scrapes the surface. As soon as you say you have some złoty or don't have, or thanks to the złoty (how many), my brain will start hurting again.

Sorry, guys... didn't mean to confuse you.

I am writing a feature in English, and need to mention <insert name of the Polish currency>

Does that make sense?

Cheers guys - normally, when I am writing factual stuff, I include PLN (but does one write PLN 200 or 200PLN... nooooo, that's another question for another day).

This is a kind of "and finally" type piece in a wider feature about Poland... written fairly coloquially, if you see what I mean.

Thanks everyone :)

I know it's called genitive, but in these number examples, I prefer to think of there being:

singular
plural
funny plural

One aardvark
Two aardvarks
Five of-aardvark

PinkJewel:
informal

Informal name for złoty?

Or do you not want to say?

złotych is the plural when referring to the currency unit.

złoty is not plural (the plural forms are złote and złotych depending on the figure) złoty is an adjective (it means golden in pl)

pierogi is plural for pieróg but this is a noun

as a monetary unit "złoty" functions as a noun.

Osiol's got it right.

as for złotówka it refers to individual coins rather than to expressing an amount of money.

You're right... I think it is called "rzeczownik odprzymiotnikowy" (?adjectival noun?)
I only wanted to indicate that złoty is not a regular noun (the "y" doesn't mean that złoty is plural)

Indeed, I have never heard of anyone talking about jeden złot. But should I have, by some curious twist of grammar?

Good call, but if writing an article in English, best to keep with PLN. If you really want to use "zloty" than keep it at "zloty"

Aaah, but the context was referring to "Zloties" in general, rather than a specific sum, if that makes sense.
