re: Shouldn't you first "proof" your accusations Puzzy?

- You mean you won't give your evidence until I don't give mine? Why?

By the way, what should I prove in connection with my question: 'The usual german with a wrecked self-image who is trying to satisfy his sense of belonging?'?

Since you seem to know all about Germans you will be surely have some evidence about our "wrecked self-image" and our "sense of belonging", right?

Proof please!

Noun 1. proof - any factual evidence that helps to establish the truth of something; "if you have any proof for what you say, now is the time to produce it"

It will do me in everytime....don't know if it's the tannins or the sulfites. Plus, I can't keep a lovely buzz without working very hard at it. And I sober up before everyone has left for the night. :(

Shopgal, I thought you were ignoring me, and being snappy re some previous remarks. Besides you chatted with that nazi nincompoop... Therefore I didn't dare. Warmest hello. Real nice to talk to you again.

No, I was just seeing what kind of spirit had you first. It 's like talking with a porcupine once you get wound up. You'll shoot quills at anyone who come near in that case. Takes hours pulling them out. So if you'll forgive me, please proceed with the Ching! :)

Why are you being such an ass? you make out that we all hate Poland and that Polish people are misteated in England..the reality of it is that Polish people in the main are doing well in the UK and like it here...there are a few news stories that say otherwise and this is what you read, I think you are an okay guy but you have issues with your own country and the fact people leave in their droves...people dont hate Poland or Polish people, you are not that important, and thats not a put down its the truth, Poland is just another country;

Amathyst, I believe I have never written anything like that about the English. If there's a foreign nation I like and respect, it's the English. I think it's shows in my posts. I am not being flattery; I see the English national shortcomings too (just as, for example, I see those of my own nation, Poles). My personal encounters with the English have been almost exclusively positive. The English, on the whole, aren't Polonophobic. Alas, the real English seem to be rare species nowadays, which may be catastrophic for Europe in the future. I have doubts whether some folks coming to this board and saying they're English, are really English. I am not sure if I agree that for all English we Poles are just another nation. One (working class) Englishman told me that in spite of the complaining in his pub about the influx of the Poles, the English folks have a real respect towards us; in fact, he said, 'we have more respect for you than for other nations.'

Something I found.....
Aug 2, 1945 new western border of Poland established along Oder and Neisse rivers
......but was finally agreed to by West Germany in a non-agression pact signed December 7, 1970 (why so long afterward?).

On Aug. 16, 1945, the USSR and Poland signed a treaty delimiting the Soviet-Polish frontier.

Under these agreements, Poland was shifted westward. In the east, it lost 69,860 sq mi (180,934 sq km); in the west, it gained (subject to final peace-conference approval) 38,986 sq mi (100,973 sq km).

Just to add my non European perspective. It is not that one country hates the residents of another. It is the countries population that is unhappy that they are receiving peoples from another country. I can see that happening here in the US too. I never had an opinion concerning Puerto Rican people or Lithuanian people….until I had to live in communities bustling with them. That is when I began to form opinions and biases. Not to say it is the same in Europe, but here, everyone wants to bring their cultures and way of living. No one wants to conform to the local society. That is when negative opinions form.
