A group of Germans kicked out of Poland after World War II want restitution for lost property, arguing in a complaint that their human rights were violated when Eastern Europe's boundaries were redrawn and they were driven from their homes.

Does everyone else find this immoral?

I don't think it'll ever happen.

Thoughts?

On a similiar note, Germany only paid about $1,000 US to victims of forced labor.
Clearly not enough for ruining someones life.

I thought the Polish government had already raised a middle finger to this.

If they didn't then they should.

Poland lost the war, we didnt decide about kicking them out, we were occupated by Russia. Russia, England and USA kicked them out so they should go to them and moan. We owe them nothing. They owe us 6 millions of death. War ended long time ago but it should not be forgotten and it wont be.

Having watched a re-run of the asassination of Heyrich in Prague last nite and how the Germans treated the people of that country, makes me angry....

Such contempt they had for all occupied countries and their peoples.

Sure why not. AS long as you have a key pot. Make sure everyone tosses their car keys in and you should be good to go

This sounds harsh, but Germans deserved to be expelled from Poland. They were collabarating with Nazi invaders so it is understandable that there wasn't much love for them. ******* german whiners ! Erika Steinbach is full of herself and it was a shame that Finns took part in the Exhibition of Expulsions by exhibiting Karelians.

Also germans still have rascist attitudes towards Polish and they are not even ashamed of it ! Relationship between Germans and Polish is quite similar to relationship between Swedish and Finnish. Both Swedish and Germans are nice&polite to people that are far away from them, but terrible to their "weaker untermensch" neighbors .But I have to agree that Swedish rule was still better for Finland than German rule, our brothers Estonians were terribly bullied by Teutonic Order.

I personnaly dont think they are owned anything, one of my closest friends her mother is German and her grandparents came to England at the beginning of WW11 left their properties in Germany (one in the city and another in the black forrest) when they went back to Germany when things had settled down after the war both properties had been looted by the Americans, but as she says its just how it was and there was no point in complaining that some American has family airlooms in their living room! May I also add that her family helped many jews escape Germany so not all Germans were scum.

^That's true A. There were many Germans who were against Hitler: Sophie Scholl was probably most famous. But you have to admit that the Germans still have an antipathy against Polish. They think Poland is full of thieves etc.

Organization behind the Exhib. of Expulsions was started by ex-nazi Hans Krüger who was even in the first beerhall putcsh !

from whom did they take this land from is my question.

I dont believe they have squatting rights if the land was occupied and
those driven from their homes -excuse me ripped from their homes and
yes I agree that this is immoral and disgusting both.

true. We are painting all germans with the one brush which is not right (and notably what the nazi's did)

hate the nazi's for what they did. Not the german people. (germans were nazi's - not all germans were nazis so we cannot blame all germans for the work of nazis)

im not advocating what the NAZI's did in WW2 at all. Im only advocating that we not be like them and discriminate blindly. Place blame where it lies not where you THINK it lies.

As to the claim. Its a difficult one and SHOULD go to court so far more rational people and educated people can decided if these german citizens have a claim (and to be fair, should equal any claim germany ever paid out to polish families) - (taking inflation etc into account)

your response PROVES that it should go to court

Your response is eye for an eye and makes you no better

your a christian no? forgiveness? fairness? no?

it is because of emmotional feelings like this that gave hitler the power to do what he did!
It is why courts exist, to examine the case without prejudice.

Imagine this was you. You would want your right to reply. your 'day in court' even if the outcome was no (which it more than likey should be) we can say, we;ve heard your claims. and no, we dont think your entitled. case closed. Your way leaves them the room to say YOUR denying them the very rights you spout to hold dear

Im against nazi's, racism and bigotry and for freedom

I would allow a nazi parade march through my home time (as long as they abided by the peaceful laws we all must) just to spite them! they would LOVE not to be allowed mach and say we are denying them rights

Ulster orangemen went to march in Dublin. A march i dont agree with but accepted it right to have a march (as gays can, feminisits, suffrajets, african americans to stand up for what THEY believe in - you dont have to believe in them) BUT under a free and democratic society, if they march peacefully they should be allowed to 'express' themselves (even if i dont agree with what they believe)

The parade was attack by irish 'nationalists' really just people out for trouble. They rioted across dublin causing so much damage etc to peoples property and premises etc.

AND THE ULSTERMEN LOVED IT! they went home saying how bigoted and racist ireland was - not being able to allow a peaceful, democratic march take place! so all the riot did was make give them the morale upper hand!!! (which is annoying to say the least)

worthy of many profanity's. You are not all there at all are you? (rhetorical question, answer is self-evident)

Poland and Germany are equal members of the EU. The EU is not a German entity bub. and its is ridiculous to suggest that 'germany' is funding Polish Infrastructure grants in order to 'take back'

Your only TRYING to cause trouble. I will say it again, The EU welcomed all the new members and is funding their infrastrurcture etc so that thye can benefit and in turn make the lives of european people safer, better and so on.

Sure Greg....it was Polacks who conquered Europe and settled everywhere (Angles, Saxons, Franks, Goths, Lombards etc. etc. etc.)

The world of science is overwhelmed with the polish names, likewise the world of music, philosophy, poets, writers....sure....

You stupid, stupid, stupid Polaks....NOBODY would miss you!

Oh and as long Germany is biggest giver and Poland is only a taker (like always) we are so not equal!
