My grandparents got married for business-like reasons, and I wouldn't condemn them. They were together for over 30 years. But he was a widower, in his 50s, and needed someone to help raise his kids. She was a woman in her 30s who was afraid of being an old maid! It certainly wasn't hearts and flowers -- and she admitted they weren't in love. It really was a business arrangement. I think a lot of people today marry for reasons less "noble" than pure unadulterated love. I don't know many women who would marry a man with no job and no prospects because they just were so incredibly in love with him. We all have certain criteria that enter into a decision -- no one is above being human.

that wouldnt happen today since women are not desperate and he took advantage of her....nice man !!!

I feel sorry for her to settle for such a thing, I'd rather die "an old maid" than settle for anything less than love..

Im sure it happens, love is a strange thing, not everyone is looking for a fat wallet!

Yeah. And some women don't need a man to pay her rent.

Yeah. And some women don't need a man to pay her rent

women who need a man only to pay bills have no clue what relationship and love is about.

Would you get married only to get desired by you citizenship/or green card?

People do it to get into America all the time. They have "anchor children" because the law says that any child born here is a legal U.S. citizen, which is absolute B.S.

You could qualify for legitimate legal stay in a specific country, America, UK, wherever, but they will kill you with the profiling. Its not fair to be profiled and I have been profiled before, even though I had qualified completely on points. So if the system is already unfair, then u have to make something happen.

citizenship and I would have to stay married for 2 years???

one doesn't have to marry in a church you know? jp will work just fine to validate the contract.

there are plenty of people that will pay some huge amounts and there are plenty of willing recipeints.

i've seen in both sides.. it was interesting, for sure.

i don't have anything against such an arrangment by others. more power to them and it gives a person some real opportunity, thus my wings comment.

i know people who have done that. Two years past and nothing has changed, but one side got some money, and the other one pays every year tax.
People consider that as business with benefits. Avoiding the law....

I would only do it if I really cared about the girl not for money,
but it is true it happens all the time here.

Doesnt seem like fun because the INS will question you

"what side of the bed do you sleep on etc...""

you can get busted

Yes, and it's good if you have some bills on both names, pictures together, live together....etc.
And very intimate question on INS inteview, sometimes in separates rooms...

That's lots of work to do....
