Those are both ex-Eastern Block weapons

And they are still being manufactured and sold to Third world countries.
Mines and guns aren't "government surplus stock" from some scrapyard, they are being manufactured right now - maybe even using Finnish steel, for arms dealers and governments to sell to corrupt administrations.
This isn't history, it is current affairs.

Yeah it is f*cked up. When it comes supply chains it is possible to know where steel etc ends to, Whether it is ak47 or something else.
I donīt think there is any regulations in Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia of who sell their arms to. EU and USA are different, we both sell to our "Allies". Which of course may someday turn against us.

Unfortunately arms dealers operate very freely in all areas.
If you want to play on a frightening database, www.nisat.org has one where you can select a country like Poland, and see how much they earned from arms sales and in which directions the arms went...
I have had the dubious honour of attending arms fairs held in the UK in recent years and it is frightening to see who the sellers are and try and guess who the buyers represent.
BTW - I am not and have never been involved in the manufacture, use or sale of weapons, I was only there providing first aid cover in case anyone dropped a shell on their foot.

over the last days the uk has suffered at the hands of these people but we should not forget that some of *our* soldiers are facing charges for unlawfully killing iraqi citizens and then attempting to hide their crime

a typical softly softly brit who justifies killing of his own people.what has iraqi war to do with a jordanian doctor who tried to blow the airport in glasgow?
with this kind of attitude you will,as a country cease to exist in a few years.
youir kids will greet each other with "sallem allejkum" and your dinner will consist of sharma shi@t.
jeez you are so lame

If this had happened in a US airport, compared to Glasgow Eyewitness
accounts.

America:"Oh my God! There was a man on fire, he was running about, i
just ran for my life. I thought i was gonna die, he got so close to me"

Glasgow "C*nt wis running aboot on fire, so a ran up n gave him a good
boot, then decked him"

America:" I just wanna get home, away from here. I just wanna get home,
I thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow:" here shug, am no leaving here till am oan a f*ckin' plane!"

America:" there was pandemonium, people were running in all directions,
we didn't know what was happening thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow:"F*ck this fir a kerry oan, moan we ll get a pint in"

America:" We thought he was gonna blow us all up he had a gas canister,
and was trying to get into his trunk, I thought we were gonna die, I
just ran for my life"

Glasgow:"a swaggered by the motor that wis on fire, and the dafty
couldnae even open his boot, he wis in fire annaw so a ran up n gave him
a good boot to the baws"

America: there was this huge explosion, it sounded like war, I thought i
was gonna die"

Glasgow:" There wis a bang, yi know when yi throw BO basher intae a fire
it wis like that"

America:" I'm too traumatized even to speak, I thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow "here mate, gies 2 minutes till a phone ma auld dear, if am

Finally, two quotes from an eye-witness.........john smeaton (these are
real)
John just surpassed himself on the National ITV new. The interviewer
asked "What message do you have for the bombers" - he replied "This is
Glasgow we'll just set about you" John done an interview on cnn and they
asked how he restrained the guy and he said "me and other folk were just
tryin 2 get the boot in and some other guy banjoed him" !

Are we allowed to say that here? Why is the censorship filter not filling that word with asterisks?

Ah Sz mate.

We UK types will know all about ***ping into the shops which caught me in the naughty word trap the other day. I'm simulating the stars here to make my point.
No point immediately wasting our time asking why I cannot use that three-letter word under the stars back there in here. No one can work out the mind of a naughty word filter. But we're all in the same world we have to rub along together especially to keep up the shine. :)

I've just shown this to a Glaswegian colleague at work, he looked at it straight faced and said. "Aye, that's fairly accurate"

I actually hadn't seen this thread either but I got an email back then which included that which Bubbawoo posted.

It is absolutely true. Scots (and Glaswegians in particular) would be more likely to be extremely annoyed at the interruption to their holiday plans! I'd have banjoed the little fecker as well.

haha

Hi coisty (geez I had a crush on him when I was about twelve! hero! lol). I was actually on John Smeaton's site not that long ago but I might go and have another look. I think those guys picked the entirely wrong country (and part of the country). Thousands of Glaswegians trying to get away from the dismal summer weather - already delayed for whatever reason and here comes Mr Would-Be Terrorist - they were never going to pull it off. If I ever meet Mr Smeaton I'll certainly put a pint in his glass!
