I'm here in Krakow till Monday and fortunately Wisla have a home game on Sunday at 17.00.

It'll be my first 'live' Polish game; cheapest tickets are around 20zł, whilst the expensive ones are around 37zł.

As a Fulham supporter in England I haven't had much to cheer about this season , maybe Wisla will give me something to cheer :o)

Lol, have fun, watch out for the hoolies, there are certainly a lot of them on both the Wisla and Cracovia sides. Although i'm not sure who Wisla are playing over the weekend, if its Lech Poznan thats also a dodgy game to go and see!!

Wisła are playing GKS Bełchatów.

I've heard a lot about the Polish football hooligans, but hopefully i'll be okay with the Wisła fans in the more expensive seats.

I've already bought myself a Wisła replica top and warm wooly hat; I try to watch footie games whenever I am abroad. It also makes things interesting to have a team to support in another country.

England - Fulham
Poland - Wisła Krakow
Scotland - Celtic
Spain - Barcelona
Italy - Juventus

I don't think the hooliganism is as bad as it used to be. I know some fans in Poznan and they say it's calmed down quite a bit. You'll be ok

I'm sure I'll enjoy the game ..... I'm a bit of a football fanatic and if I can put up with Fulham this season then I can easily watch Wisła, who are supposed to be one of the top teams in Poland.

I'm staying in Hotel Cracovia which is next to Cracovia stadium, and first impressions regarding stadiums here in Poland are that they need to be hugely improved before 2012. The Wisła stadium is better than Cracovia, but they have a long way to go to be up to the standard of English stadiums.

I've only seen the stadiums from the outside, but I'll let you know what I think after Sunday's game ..... ie. atmosphere, level of football played, stadium facilities.

thats pretty cool, i remember the days of the Brozek brothers, they were pretty good if i remember rightly, i think there european campaign as far as the champions league this season was ended in the qualification stage by Panathinikos of Greece, which was a shame as i was looking forward to seeing them.

wow four years old around all that violence, you must be a hardened polka now :)

Thanks Tele ....

I saw that documentary and it looked pretty scary, especially with the police not doing much when the supporters started burning scarves and other items from the opposition !

I think if that had happened in England you'd have had a large majority of those supporters arrested and the game abandoned !

Don't worry if i don't post soon after the game, because on Monday I'm travelling by train to Warsaw where I have a few meetings.

I'm sure I'll be okay .... I 'm a bit unfit these days, but can still run quite fast; i believe in avoiding confrontation wherever possible, and especially with mindless thugs i think it's better to be someone who is alive and seen as a coward, rather than being a dead tough guy !

They are THE top team in Poland as the standings are now. 11 points better than my team, Legia Warszawa. So I hope your boys lose, mate. Enjoy the game, though, I envy you. From what I've heard of Polish footie, you don't get it till you've seen it live.

haha they are borrowing the top of the league from Wisla, you know how many times Wisla has won the league in recent years, Legia are mearly filling a gap that Wisla have decided to vacate for a while :)

there is always something a little spicy going on at the games in Poland, although there are parts of the ground where the fans are what you might call 'normal' football fans who are there to watch the game and not, shout racist chants, burn opposition flags and scarves, get into a fight with either the oppo fans or the police ( i don't think they care which)

Are you thinking of "The International Football Factories" with Danny Dyer?
If so, that was indeed the Wisla-Cracovia derby. Saw it on YouTube.

Favorite sides:
Poland - Wisla Krakow
England - Lincoln City FC (yes, I know, they're permanent residents in League Two - but some of my family lines trace back to Lincolnshire, fair enough?)
Scotland - Celtic
Brazil - Coritiba (longtime family friends live there, and that's their club, so I support them out of friendship)

He's a twat. He was in the movie Football Factory and now all of a sudden he is the big hooligan insider.

I've been to see Lech Poznan once and fairly enjoyed it apart from a few dodgy characters hanging about.

My teams are:

Scotland - St. Mirren
Ireland - Athlone Town
Germany - BFC Dynamo

That's the programme I saw !

Anyway, Sunday's game between Wisła and Bełchatów ended up 2-0 (0-0);

I wasn't too impressed with the Stadium and they'll have a long way to go to make it acceptable for any major international tournaments. Two of the stands (behind the goals) were okay, but the two at the sides of the pitch could do with tearing down and rebuilding. I suppose I have been spoilt by watching most of my football in England - i'd say that the Wisla stadium is comparable to Division 1 league in England.

My ticket stipulated quite clearly where my seat was, but it appears it's a 'sit where you want' approach in the stadium, although many supporters chose to stand, and block the aisles. To make things harder, my seat number was 72, but there was no such number in the row. and the rows were not clearly marked either.

Toilets consisted of about 10 portaloos .... and the refreshment stand was two guys and two girls serving tea or pepsi, and grilled sausages with two pieces of bread and mustard.

I was also surprised to see that there were no stewards in the stands either, although there were many riot police outside/inside the ground.

Health & Safety would have had a field day if this had been a stadium in England.

Anyway I settled down to watch the game. It was a pretty scrappy game, but Wisla deserved their 2-0 win. There was no crowd trouble during the game or after which was a pleasant surprise.

I have say that I was very impressed by the atmosphere created by the Wisla supporters throughout the game; it seemed as though they were chanting and singing throughout the whole 90 minutes. Behind one of the goals , where the vocal Wisła supportes sit/stand, there's a guy on a raised podium with two giant drums who orchestrates the singing /vocal support.

I will definitely go to more matches in Poland .... and Wisła Krakow can add me to the list of their supporters !

Wisła Krakow... Wisła Krakow !!

It doesn't sound like it is too different to Craven Cottage to be honest
