Hola,

Off to Wroclaw on Thursday with some mates for four nights.

Recommendations on the following are much appreciated!

- Things to see/do during the day
- Good bars/clubs at night
- Good food to order?
- Essential polish language to know!
- Somewhere to watch the fa cup final on saturday afternoon

I know there are websites with this kind of info but wanted to get some advice, first hand, from people that had actually been there!

Cheers
Paul
p.s. looking for a proper polish experience

I don't know how much info you got from that webpage, but the essentials would be:

Sightseeing: Ostrów Tumski (the Cathedral, the island itself which is a jewel ;)
Main Market (a must, hard to miss anyways ;)
The river bank - nice to walk around in the evening
my private choice is the Śródmieście district - around Prusa street - lots of old, pre-war tenement houses, incerdible atmosphere

Bars/clubs: not around anymore, don't really know what's in :D

Good food: Mexico restaurant (Rzeznicza street) - totally fab!
best pizza at Oregano (Igielna, near Columbus english bookshop)
very cheap, nice classical student meals at Bazylia mily bar in the Law department building (uniwersytecka street)

essential polish (actually, all languages essentails :D): Przepraszam (sorry / excuse me)
Proszę (please)
Dziękuję (thank you)

Enjoy! :D

In 2005 I stayed out at the Hotel Tumski. It's a really pretty area, the churches are all in easy walking distance.

It's also only 15 minutes walking to the Rynek. And yes, the prices are quite good. I only ate in the restaurant a few times. Food was very good though. Every day we were in the Rynek trying a different restaurant each day. The evenings was home cooked meals with family.
