Government Funding for Sport in Poland?

Hi,
I am looking to move to Poland to start a life with my Polish Girlfriend. I am english and I am well aware that I can learn to become a English teacher. I have two years in teaching experience in England but unfortunatly no degree, and this is not my expertise.
I am an ex-professional rugby league player. I have captained England at the age of 19. I now hold the highest coaching badge for coaching Rugby League and Multi Sports. I am learning basic Polish but believe language doesn't have to be a factor in Sport. I know Poland has a good National Football Setup but i'm unaware if Poland has the kind of Government Funding for Sport as England does.

No degree in English or no degree at all ? If the first one, that's probably not a big problem.



There's rugby leage in Poland, but that's not a popular sport here, so unless you become a coach of a national team, they will probably hardly pay anything.

I have no degree at all. When i finished english high school i went straight into full time sport. I am educated to A-level in Mathamatics and Sports Science. I am qualified to coach all sports to a medium standard then Rugby to International Standard. I have been teaching Sports Science and also I am a coach educator.

I have heard a little about Rugby Union in Poland but nothing about Rugby League. And I am told there are no jobs in the field. I hope this is wrong. ha

Congratulations on captaining England. It's a great honour.

However, you know that it will only help you a little when searching for work in Poland.

You will have to find a vacancy and move to that city. The bigger cities are the place to look. Your problem is that you must convince them that they need you.

You might find an opportunity in Wroclaw.

As for teaching. You can always pay the rent with that. But not during holidays, if you do private lessons.

This is a tough truth that I know. At the moment my options seem limited. I have experience in Recruitment and Sales in England also. But I am unsure if this can help me in poland without me speaking the language fluently.

You have to start knocking on doors. Maybe your girlfriend's family can help.

It's important when you come over. School, university holidays might make it difficult to find work teaching/teaching rugby.

If you come here and you are still looking for work, your English pound [savings] should give you a degree of breathing space. But not for ever.

But I guess you know all this. Good Luck.

So that's a problem, but I believe that a native English speaker, who can comunicate a little in Polish could find a job in a private language school even without degree.



If you are really qualified I bet that you could find this kind of job, but I see 2 problems:

1) money - a coach of a Polish national football team gets 60.000 EUR a month, but coaches in lower leages or in unpopular kinds of sport (and rugby is very "non mainstream" here) hardly get anything (and I mean really hardly anything), so often they just teach sport in school as the first job and coaching as the second or a hobby.

2) location - If your girlfriend wants to import you to Poland, she probably wants to live in some specific location and looks like there are only 2 rugby leages in Poland, each with 10 teams only (I checked on the union's website - http://www.pzrugby.pl/ ), so It's possible that there's no club in the whole area or there's one, but It's not that they will immiedtly fire their current coach and take you.

If you are qualified also in other kinds of sport I would suggest something like fitness/aerobic. In bigger towns you may find such clubs for rich fat people, who want to lose a pieace of their fat asses and they should pay quite well there.

But that's true

There is no Rugby League in Poland, it is rugby union. There is no money in rugby, so any coaching job will only pay a couple of thousand zloties at the most.

There is an expat rugby team in warsaw frogsco.pl, it has people of all nationalities and is very social, so at least get yourself in contact with them for some friends if you moving to Warsaw.

if you want something conected with sport, I suggest you contact the fitness gyms, like holmes place or world academy to see about being a personal trainer. There are plenty of foreigners going to these places so language will not be an isse. Wages might be though.
