old Polish form of word ('dziatek')?

I saw an old book that said "dla małych dziatek". I thought the way to say "for small children" is "dla małych dzieci". So, is dziatek an old form of Polish?

Yes. One form is still in use 'dziatwa'.

dziatki = children
dziadki = grandpas
