Artur Boruc played a blinder last night and also saved 2 penalty kicks during the shoot-out. The guy is world class and he helped ensure Celtic are in the Champions League again this year.

Maciek Zurawski was injured last year so didn't play many games. He hasn't played many this year as he battles back for his position, and also against a number of idiotic journo's who play up that he should be transferred.

He came on as a sub last night, but camly scored one of the penalty kicks during the shoot-out. That took a bit of of nerve and courage given his lack of match practise.

Thank thank you Poland for Boruc and Zurawski!!

Artur Boruc

is Poland's only genuine world class palyer, one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment along with Petr Cech and of course Gianluigi Buffon. I have been a fan of Boruc for a while now and even before he moved to Celtic. I think he has what it takes and will probably move on in the next year or two, as to be honest he's not going to win much with Celtic apart from a few SPL titles and Scottish cups.

Maciek Zurawski

Probably best he was injured, one of Poland's most overrated players, i haven't seen somebody as average as him, ever noticed he goes missing in the big games???

Not many opportunities for Zurawski to go missing cos he hasn't played much!! I know what you are getting at though. I think this is a crunch season for him and his performance will determine whether he stays or goes next year.

I expect Boruc will go next year, unless we progress to 1/4 or semi of the Champions League. Realistically 1/4 final is out best hope.

If one of the main contenders for the CL come in for him next year, then I think he will go cos the price will be in the £10m mark. Why that much? If the Scottish goalie moves from Hearts to Sunderland for £9m then clearly Artur will cost more.

£10m mark.

i'd be very happy to pay that for him, no problem, you cannot under estimate the goalkeeping position and how important having a good goalkeeper is. It is actually probably the most important position on the field because if you ahve a bad keeper then your going to get no where, 'build from the back' :)

She certainly is. You can see more of her on Artur's website.

He is much better than Gordon, bit somehow I think we are going to agree to disagree on this one.

from the interview with Boruc in Przegląd Sportowy

- O czym pan myślał, gdy szykowaliście się do rzutów karnych?
- Bardzo mi się siku chciało. Pobiegłem więc szybko do szatni. To jedyne co pamiętam. A potem? Karne jak karne. Znów kilka razy mnie trafili – dodał nasz bramkarz.

Q: What were you thinking about while preparing for the penalty shut-out?
A: I really needed to take a pee, so I ran to the toilet. That's all I can remember. And then? Penalties just like ever. They hit me with the ball a few times again

I have heard rumours that Arsenal are looking to Boruc as a replacement for Lehmann.

Did anyone else see his "dance" at Easter Road on Sunday? I'm not even sure how to describe it... :)

I missed that. What was it like? I was in the pub so must the first before I got home in time for the second half. I did read the usual guttersnipe press that want him charged because he allegedly gave the single finger to the Hibs fans. Some fans have no humour. They want to give dogs abuse to players but don't like when players give it back. I call that banter!!

He's made a couple of mistakes recently, but he saves Celtic on so many occassions. Zuraw has disappeared a bit.

He kind of "flapped" and skipped towards the Hibs fans (never saw any rude gestures myself). Truly entertaining. He makes me laugh. :)

Yes but every goalie makes mistakes. Definitely he's one of the better goalies around at the moment.

I'd say Boruc is one of the top 5 keepers in the world. At the rate of improvement since he joined Celtic, he may make it to the top. He has 2/3 years over most of his rivals (Buffon, Cech etc)

You obviously didn't see him against Hibs recently or the one he almost let in against Milan. Maybe your green tinted specs blurred your vision.

I saw. I was at both games. Couple of mistakes recently but he is a top keeper, if you think about it really hard, you'd struggle to name any more than 3/4 keepers who are better than him.

At a push: Petr Cech - Chelsea, Gigi Buffon - Juventus, Casillas - Real Madrid are the only ones that come to mind just now. Name any other keepers better than Boruc?

Criteria should be - played at the highest level and been reasonably successful.

Cech, Buffon, Reina, Boruc are all playing at the highest level year in, year out, are internationalists and play in the Champions League.

Sure but how could we say one is better than another one ? How could we say Cech is better than Buffon for example... ;)

Well your criteria is nonsense, a certain british player became one of the most expensive keepers in history recently, and you don't even mention him.

To be honest, the only people who rate Boruc are Poles and Celtic fans, ask anyone else and you'll get the real answer about how good he is.

Take of those specs.......

Not true and I am neither. He's a great keeper who's having a run of horrendous mistakes (and strange dances).

It's logical, Boruc plays in Celtic Glasgow which is a good club, but compared to Dida who plays in Milan AC...and I think Boruc is better than Dida, but the club (famous or not) matters a lot ;)

Craig Gordon is a good young keeper, but has never played in the CL, only in internationals. For what it's worth, I rate CL games over Internationals. I know Gordon played against France and Italy, but playing in the CL you get games against top club sides, teams who would rip the likes of Georgia/Lithuania etc apart. So IMO CL is a higher standard than Internationals.

Thats not to say Gordon will never play in the CL, he just won't do it with Sunderland...

Zurawski is half a yard too slow IMO - no idea why you stick with him. A good player in his day, but well past his sell-by date by any definition?

He's now a squad player rather than automatic choice. He's done the business bY scoring at European and International level so I'd rather have him as a squad player compared to a youngster when we play in the CL.

Would agree to some extent db (his recent howlers have shown that his concentration levels are certainly not all they could be). Maybe if he spent more time paying attention to the game than acting the goon he'd raise his game to a new level, he could learn a lot in terms of application and general demeanour from Craig Gordon. His problem is that he has yet to realise that if he lives by the sword then you will die by it, he lacks the maturity that a real world class keeper needs and as long as he continues to devote part of every game to winding up opposition supporters this isn't going to change.

Fine keeper, goat of a man would seem to be a reasonable summation. Not all managers would tolerate what Strachan does from him, maybe that's why the big move isn't forthcoming.

I'm a Hearts man myself db but I laughed my nadgers off at his display at Easter Road a month or so back.
