im learning polish at evening class here in Doncaster in the UK been to 5 class 2hours long and still 25 weeks of learning to go before i have the level one qualification in the polish language
It does take time i have to agree i started about three months ago self teaching via a robotic sounding cd-rom from EuroTalk ... but doing the evening classes i have picked up more and more words and some are now sinking in my ever unorganised brain
I also have primsluer polish cd containing 10 lessons (american done) which is very helpful ... a couple of phrasebooks, dictionary also a online dictionary and a software program dictionary (given by a polish friend via gadugadu

plus the book czesc jak sie masz?
I also found that if you listen to polish music (i started on Kasia Kowalska ... as a polish girl sent me a cd of her music from her pc that had quite a selection on including the gemini album of Kasia's ... i since have got 7 Kasia albums, 5 albums by Edyta Gorniak plus have quite a selective range of polish music inc

the club/dance/techno variety ... you do learn the words as your brain will remember them and when you hear it in a conversation your brain will go ping hang on i recognise that word!!!
im learning it to converse with my polish friends here in the UK and in Poland -- plus i would like to work in a job whereby i can use the polish language daily
