Have the European media lost interest in Poland?

Has anyone else noticed that since the demise of the previous Polish Government the media in other EU countries seems to have completely lost interest in Poland? I've just spent three months in the UK and didn't read a single article about Poland in the press or see a single report on TV. Was the only thing they were interested in the fact that the country was being run by a bunch of trouble making (in terms of the EU), gay bashing nutters?

yes Poland is much less controversial I thing it is main reason.

We domn't have any negotiations with EU, we don't debate about commies and gay rights ... much more intersting thing is crisise in USA. Russian-Polish realtions ... it seams both sides try to make them more normal and less controversial. Polish imigrants are nothing new ...

What those stupid people would do if not objective media telling them what they need to do. How great that we have media that we can trust!

Do you think the european media ever had eny interest for Poland apart from her scandals againsr Russia? You see, just Russia and Poland achieved some agreement, the interest immideately reduced.

They also showed interest when Kaczynski talked about Germans in WW2.

Media is always interested in the bad, the ugly and the shocking. It is human nature and it is to be found virtually anywhere - fairly tales, news, the Bible, movies. The good and the mellow is simply boring.

An old newspaper adage: if it bleeds it leads.

Many PO supporters accused PiS supporters that they vote like Radio Maryja tells them. You actually question intellectual superiority that they think that they have over PiS voters.

Looks like "The Pot Calling The Kettle Black"

Exactly Osioł. The main news at the moment regarding Poland is arguably this shield but the European media isn't commenting so widely on it at all. Why? Because it's a political hot potato which could get the writing party embroiled in heated debate with Russia. I think more could have been written about the transitional phase between Kaczyński and Tusk but clearly it didn't arouse much interest.

Have you looked through good quality newspapers? The Guardian is good and The Daily Telegraph always has an international section. TV news is a waste of time and only concentrates on a few main topics which change every two to three days.

Yep. I mainly read the quality press. I did read an interesting articles about Poles who have become very successful in business in the UK but nothing aout what was happening in Poland itself.
Seanus makes a good point about 'the shield' story getting little (or no?) coverage. Are the British press scared to comment on Americas plan for Europe?

So! Poland politics is going interest only as reflection of the bigger states.
