This is in no way related to Poland other than I'm living here but I'm trying to write an article for a football magazine. To help me do this I was just wondering if people on here could please tell me all they information they know, off the top of their heads (sorry for idioms from your memory might be better) about SHEFFIELD UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB. Please also tell me where you are from. If you want to send me a private message with this info please feel free. If you are a football (soccer) geek I don't need to know everything, just say you know everything.

Isn't Sean Bean [actor] a director of Sheffield United.

I think the original poster wants to see the opinions on the club, not the facts. I've heard about it but the "Sheffield United" name isn't associated with any spectacular events; the name sounds British for sure, but it's more or less like "Middlesbrough". Liverpool or Arsenal are more brandable.

I think the poster is looking for anecdotal stories about The Blades. You know, things like they have the cheapest meat pies in the Premiership (dunno if this is true btw) or they used to hang visiting supporters if they wore more than two scarves. Sorry, can't help being a Liverpool fan an all.

They got thumped at Chelsea this weekend if that helps. Oh and they've got the biggest mouthed manager in the world.

I just want general impressions really. Especially if it's from people who only know a few things about us. It's interesting to know how my team is perceived or not by others.

I'm a soccer fan (not fanatic though), but I don't really have much to say about Sheffield United. I haven't checked, but I think they don't play in the Premiership. I cannot recall any player from this team either. I would have more to say bout MU for sure though .

I've heard of them. I also go to Bramall Lane once a year, and I have to say, they are a crap team. And play crap football.

However, they have very loyal fans, and during games you can here the whole stadium groan at some poor football. The fans suffer loudly, but they love their club.

Don't read much about trouble at the ground although there is a gang called BBC, who support voilence. I've heard through the grapevine that they now run one of the pubs on London Road, avoid at all costs I would say.

Utd fans call Sheffield Wednesday fans "pigs". Wed fans call Utd fans "pigs". Who copied who I wonder, and where is originality.

Sitting some 7 points clear of the borrom 3rd team, they are really in danger of going down. The team did not buy EPL players on promotion, do not have a manager with EPL experience, so all in all, are having a great first season. If they stay up, they will receive £30m. That will allow the manager to move upstairs to bring in an experienced EPL manager, and also buy EPL players.

It's good for the city to have an EPL team and I do hope they stay up.

Finally they sing a weird song about a greasy chip sandwich, Yorkshire humour I suppose.

Please don't use EPL it's a horrible Americanism.

Sheffield Wednesday definitely copied us with the pigs thing, as they only started using it about 2 years ago although they oddly seem to deny this. We've used it for the 25 years I can recall.

Well Phil, I'm not calling it the PL, or Premier League. We Scots set up our Premier League and 4 years later the EFA used the same. Our league is the SPL and yours is the EPL
