Heavy drinking culture in the UK - is it still the same in Poland?

I was thinking about it. In UK there is heavy drinking culture.....I hear all the time about aggressive drunk women, vomiting drunk women injured drunk women, raped drunk women....

I know that not all of women do it. But I was brought in Poland on more self-respect culture..... in UK this word doesn't seem to mean much....
And I sometimes feel sorry to young girls here there is so big pressure on going out and drinking, drinking....that even if they don't like it they do it to be cool and accepted.

Is it the same changing in Poland now ?

I haven't been very long in UK but I am loosing little contact with polish reality now.

I understand and agree with everything you say, I dont see there being any change to the situation it's quite sad really, Im just glad that my nieces are well brought up and well behaved - my eldest niece is 14 and has not yet tried drinking, she's studious and has interests, I think that, that is a large problem girls dont have interests so see drinking as a hobbie...Also women earn quite a bit these days and are independant more disposable income more socialising.

Its being featured a lot on programmes at the moment and it is a problem.

Wonder if tv shows like Footballer's wives, Mile High Club have any influence.
Also peer pressure for drinking, smoking weed is incredible

I dont think progs like Footballers Wives had an influence, I think it's more to do with life-style changes, women have more money, they dont get married at an early age, dont have kids, they just dont have the same lives they had 40 years ago they have freedom to do as they please and it would seem binge drinking is the order of the day for many.

Hob, its not actually funny, there was a prog on the other week called "Booze Britain Birds" some of the women were more violent the men...it was horrifying to watch, dont get me wrong I enjoy a good old drink with friends but these women were drinking about 100 units a week and more - would you date a women that might come home and beat you up after a session with the girls....its just wrong.

Ive only been to Poland twice and only ever saw a couple of drunks, unlike in the UK when I get hassled every time I go out (city centre) by some drunk or another. manser there is a drinking culture in the UK which is not good, jeez I can't even get on a bus at 8pm without being hassled by some drunk..

AMA, i know there is in the UK, i think its worse in the UK than poland...........UK is MORE violent when drunk, but i THINK there are more Drunks in poland but not so violent, ive ahd no hassle with polish drunks, i got invovled with one but he was more jokey than violent like her ein the UK.

Well maybe not.
Personally, I like women that exercise reasonable (but not stiff) modesty. The fact is, women are as bad as men (maybe worst) when it comes to 'herd mentality'.
I wouldn't wish on them unreasonably, but many are just begging for the wrong attention.

When I was last time in Krakow we went with my friends for a meal , few drinks. We left at about 2am- Krakow main market was quiet few people still sitting outside, chatting ....


I would invite you to any English town at this time ( Saturday night).....just to compare.....

polish are still drunked crazies though....im going by my experienc eout there otherwsie i wouldnt know anything about it. UK is worse though because ONLY uk are more VIOLENT when drunk, poliosh not so for some reason. they are drunk n stagger home but here its fights n deaths ect

I agree. We are seeing this phenomenon in Canada as well. Not often, but once is once too often if you ask me.

With regards to Iwona's point about Krakow I saw no drunks on the streets there it was very pleasant the the couple of drunks I saw in Wroclaw were harmless enough and I didnt feel threatened.

I think the point is some women in the UK are behaving like bloody animals when they're out they are showing us up and I dont honestly see a solution to it.

For misbehaving men:- National service/boot camp
For misbehaving women:- 3 months forced romping with lesbian nuns! No shaving allowed. Lol

I met like 50 diffrent polish men and women and none of them drunk more than 2,3 beers. the drinking is a really unfounded prejudice about polish people. also, what I really appreciate is that even tipsy, they controll themselves very well. so, no outrageous behaviour or anything like that.

I have read some articles about today’s Polish youth, and it looks that girls in the age between 16-18 drink similar amounts of alcohol as boys do these days. Papers generally have the tendency to exaggerate, but maybe we really are witnessing heavy changes being made in the polish society? Who knows...

It is strange but in my imagination Poland is always the way that it was when I left.

I noticed this about the polish people in Italy. Even if they get paid really well( compared to poland where I read that they are people that get max 200 euro) they say some very mean thing about my country. You should hear them call us names and despising our culture!
