Lukasz the dollar is weak universally right now...has nothing to do with the Zl....and even with it's lower value I know I earn much more than you...and guess what...it doesn't mean a thing.

If the US was not putting so much money into the Polish economy...paying for your soldiers to go to war...giving aid and equipment...the PLN would not be so strong so your assessments are wrong.

Poland cannot stand alone...economically, militarily, technologically....it needs help and your pride won't let you admit that.

I am not sure if you are mocking me or not...if not I apologize for the assumption.

It is a fact that Poland like all developing countries cannot stand alone. They need help and investments from other more developed and wealthier countries to maintain and improve the quality of life they now have.

If you took out foreign investment and business Poland would be devastated economically...cheap labor and land has brought business from across the EU here...the indiginous skilled labor has mostly left for more money in the UK etc...

This is not criticism or insult is is simply fact.

My irritation comes with the constant assertion of how mighty and super Poland is when this is all just empty bluster...

I believe they want so badly to be strong for the first time in modern history that they can't see what the reality is...that they are a developing nation that is fragile and has many issues to work through.

Hi guys, yeah dont let one single person dominate the thread! Thank you, lets go back to the issue.

I think being an expat in Poland sucks, I agree with Jones about politics and economic situation of Poland.

I do believe that Poland has a lot of things that could make it watch EU scenery with the chin up. But then it comes their mindset, wow I have never experienced such backwards attitude, what a waste of land and resources. I do know Lukasz that there is a rich cultural past, but past is the past. I am sorry to update you, and i still have some faith for Poland, but as some German friends say " for most people, Europe stops in Berlin" Thats a stupid remark, but is the way people feel, and they even fear Polish people for , in my friend's words "appear to be ignorant, uneducated, aggresive, and cant control their drinking" I dont believe it entirely and I have been here for almost a year, but just tell me, what are you guys in Poland doing to change this stereotype????? Please a sensible answer.

Now, as it goes with karta pobytu, I would like to know (im doing it through agency) how much it would take, the agency told me one month and maybe a little bit more. Some colleague whose girlfriend is Colombian said it too get her 3 weeks to get her plastic card. Man I am stucked in this country!!!!!!!! I cant go out of Poland cos I am here under residence decision and there is no visa in my passport, this stupid karta pobytu is delaying my holidays!!!

pls any prior experience, anything, any recommendation, any solidarity, any facts is much appreciated.

Thanks

I would appreciate if someone could answer the following questions for me, regarding, the "Karta Pobytu":-
My card is due for renewel in 2009 and as these cards are not necessary for Polish people living in the UK, why do I need one here.
I have a 2 year old child (who is registered as Polish), if I do not renew the card will the authourities ask me to leave the country and if so, who will support my partner and child.
As with (jones101), I invest money into Poland and take nothing out, I also pay a voluntary contribution to the ZUS health fund.
Where are these recipricol agreements that the EU were supposed to have implemented? There seems to be a lack of information from the Polish authourities on these issues. Every department will tell you something different!!!!.

Because British citizensd in the UK do not need a government issued ID card so the British government can not require EU citizens in the UK to have government issued ID cards. However, Poles do need to register under the Worker Registration Scheme for the first 12 months they want to work in the UK. Of course the form is available in Polish and does not require any visits to any government offices.

I don't think that an EU citizen can actually be deported for failing to have a residency permit. As a general rule an EU citizen can only be deported from an EU state if that state can demonstrate that that citizen is a threat to public order there. However, I for one would not like to test that rule.

Thank you Harry, but as I said, nobody seems to know. By the way, I am English and living in Poland. I was not born in Wales, Scotland or Ireland, that only leaves one little bit, England. If that is not PC enough for anybody, tough!!!!!
