Russian Memoir Says
US GIs Kept In Siberian
Labor Camps

The Kremlin has backtracked on Yeltsin's statement and challenged U.S. officials to find proof. Armed with the Russian emigre's memoir, the Pentagon hopes to persuade the Russians to provide access to archives at numerous former Siberian labor camps where U.S. servicemen were said to have been held.

"We're not expecting an easy time," Kass said.

When Kass disclosed the memoir's existence at a meeting of the U.S.-Russian commission last November, the Russians were skeptical but agreed to study it, a U.S. summary of the proceedings said.

It's not exactly a surprise that you thought this. Your knowledge of history is shocking.

We do like the Russians or respect them rather.. kind of hard not to. These sound like relatively isolated incidents. Russia is moving forward as a democracy.. maybe it's two steps forward and one back but it's progress nonetheless.

Nah, that's DEFINATELY not true. They're taking steps back. Democracy is fading in Russia

I worry about that too. This Medvedev seems little more than a Putin Puppet.
Some call the recent years the "new cold war".
