Hi Guys

found this forum and thought I'd sign up looks like there's more activity here than some of the other Poland related sites I've been to.
Been to Krakow twice in 2006 such a great place and a quick visit to Warsaw (totally different)

Thanks Good to meet you

Where is the Tri city then? Thinking about returning to Krakow in March To Learn Polish not having much luck teaching myself but I do know some basic stuff not enough though to have a conversation.
Doing lessons in the UK is really expensive anybody reccomend Crakovia Language Academy? they are doing 2 week courses at a good price too hope it will be a big help for me

As I am Considering maybe moving to Poland sometime in 2007

Hi Mutley

Good to meet you
Have you started trying to learn Polish Yet?
I'm trying to get myself down the learning road been looking in the local area but so much money(for lessons) Polish is not excatcly a common langauge to learn in the UK (unlike French, German ..ETC) so looks like I might be jumping on a Plane again for 2 week course in Krakow just got to organise it now

(Maya) So how did you end up in sunny donny(Doncaster) then? I'm In Colchester in Essex lots of Polish people down here where I work at the local hospital

dzien dobre mark

learning polish via books,1 cd but mainly from my staff.only know a few phrases.pronounciation of some words are very hard. my gf arrived in uk in sept and did not know any english but could understand me a little.her english is getting better but she is coy as sometimes i think she does not understand me
i talk to her in english and she to me in polish............it works!!!

i generally can understand what they (friends polish) are saying for the most part.will be easier if you are have alot of contact with polish staff/friends etc.

Exactly the same with me Mutley. I met a girl (not my GF, but I'm working on it!). She doesn't speak English very well and I may as well be speaking Swahili - it's hillarious sometimes but someday I hope to be able to speak freely with her!

well give her time

they are very smart and will pick up the lingo (englsih) quicker then us (polish).they great people.i was non drinker for 5 yrs, when i started to go out with her, they all said soon i will be drinking vodka...i said " nah, never "...they had a shot glass already for me.so over the last 2 months i've been to a number of polish parties.fortunately my gf looks after me.
i think depends on individuals, but polish girls like romantic gestures, flowers, opening doors etc..

ps.lingo is slang for language for any polish who not heard the term

Yeah, I'm being very patient as she is an absolute gem - well worth the time and effort. As for chivalry - well, it goes a very long way so ALWAYS put it to practice!!!

Just my opinion anyways!!!!
