Why Cross of Valour with 2 bars was awarded to my father (Miszczyk / Bradley)?

My father Alojzy Miszczyk ( later Bradley ) was in the 1st Armoured division during WW2 , he was awarded the Polish Cross of Valour with 2 bars . Like many soldiers returning home after the war ( He settled in Scotland) , he did not talk at all about the war. I am interested in why he received this medal with 2 bars . I want to be able to tell my new grandson all about his great grandfather !

My father Alojzy Miszczyk

The two bars on the ribbon indicate the number of times he received this award, taking the original Cross of Velour into account he received this awarded three times which this list of recipients seem to confirm. You will find his name as well as his rank on this list. Pg.276

Hi, My Father, Antoni Opyrchal, is is the list you supplied, I played with his medal as a child (he had a few!). He was in the armored division. There was a book for the regiment in Polish - do you know where I can obtain a copy?
