down the road leaping between the cracks in the pavement, talking to themselves, why shouldn't they be able to if they're happy with it?

Yeah, well said.
I for one, wouldn't be very happy if they took my meds away and didn't let me to leap between cracks in the pavement. It's all I have!

We had enough of this non-sense

erm, I'm simply quoting an opinion held by some schizophrenics....as for the latter, we have had plenty of that in the UK, since that mad woman Thatcher introduced 'care in the community'

U know, these people may have rolled the dice and gotten fu*ked up through drugs. This can be for many reasons, high among them being boredom and experimentation. Ok, yes, they must accept the consequences but they maybe had the best of intentions.

Sorry, Stalin wasn't schizophrenic. Barely even schizoid

Stalin wasn't schizophrenic

If Bush is schizophrenic in your calculation, then Stalin would be King of Schizo's

Jesus lad, Bush ISN'T schizophrenic, that was the WHOLE point.

Bush, a 'normal' man, has caused untold suffering whereas schizophrenics often just wander aimlessly and harm no-one.
Filios1 8 | 1,336

Must be that dry Scottish humour...

Bush, a 'normal'

But I wouldn't exactly call him a normal man...

Dude, there was a serious point here. I don't want schizophrenics being painted with a bad brush. Bush is considered as normal. He could prove his sanity. My point was that so-called normal people can cause more harm than mentally ill people.

My point was that so-called normal people can cause more harm than mentally ill people.

True..

Except you forgot one thing...
Circumstance.

Put a schizo in Bush's position and he'd probably cause even more damage.

If you wanted to prove a point, then you could have simply said that 'normal' people, like me and you, with no diagnosed mental illness, can harm another human being just as easily or moreso than a schizo.

Not necessarily. In Scotland, we have the total alienation of reason test. This is the basis of insanity. In England, the McNaughton rules. Now, this is no guarantee that such a person will start a war. What do u understand by the concept of mens rea?

U must understand this b4 we can go any further with this
Filios1 8 | 1,336

U must understand this

The fact is, that a schizo 'COULD' cause as much harm in Bush's position, even if he does not have the guilty mind behind the act.

Just keep the mens rea away for a second, and please admit that theoretically, a schizo is capable of doing the same harm as Bush.

Yes, I'd be a fool to say otherwise. But not by virtue of being schizophrenic. Bush should have known better. Schizophrenics totally lack reason and thus can't really be held accountable for their actions. Many are harmless though. Victims only of stigmas by 'normal' people

Bush isn't a schizophrenic; he's just stupid. He's too happy to be schizophrenic.

SCHIZOPHRENIA
I am in the mood for a short story...I have spent years working with the menatally ill...This is the truth...I worked in various 'residential facilities', day programs and also the psychiatric ward in the hospital...I worked with many hard-core schizophrenics, people who hear voices, have hallucinations, and are basically existing in a different reality...
Seanus 15 | 19,674

Nietzsche didn't cause more needless death than Bush, southern.

Nice story Joe

My worst problems were with the staff at these facilities, who tended to treat these people like animals or alien beings..

Joe is right about this. I found the same.

Put a schizo in Bush's position and he'd probably cause even more damage.

Are you saying there would be more than 1 million dead en Iraq?
Seanus 15 | 19,674

Yeah, exactly. What an absurd thing to say!

Name me ONE schizophrenic who has caused more needless death than George Bush?

Hitler? Anyway, they're both schizophrenics...
Seanus 15 | 19,674
10 Nov 2008 #115
OK, one schizophrenic who was in power. It wasn't because he was schizophrenic that he killed tho. He progressively became this way. At the time of concocting his heinous and elaborate plans, he wasn't
Filios1 8 | 1,336
10 Nov 2008 #116
Yeah, exactly. What an absurd thing to say!

Dude, just **** off. Am I not entitled to my own opinion?
Note that I said 'probably,' as you were arguing that schizo's were not necesseraly as great of a danger as so called 'normals.'
So what about Stalin, or Hitler as Sasha mentioned. These people weren't clinically diagnosed, but they showed all the symptoms. Stalin didn't even need evidence. He killed members of his own govermnent right out of paranoia.

OK, u can stick to blowing off steam and I'll stick to being blown off.

I'm not talking about military rulers, I'm talking about ur run-of-the-mill types. Quite a difference.

Name me ONE schizophrenic who has caused more needless death than George Bush?

Did you, or did you not ask this question? I don't see any specification.

Hitler became schizophrenic. I approach things from a criminal law position, u should know that by now. He wasn't crazy at the time of formulating his annihilation plans.
Filios1 8 | 1,336

Hitler became schizophrenic

What about Stalin? The man was already noted as dangerous by Lenin (before he took power) because of his mental instability and extremist views of Marxism. As soon as he came to power, Stalin purged factories, the army, everything. All because he saw them as potential opponents.
