It's a pity, that nobody continues this topic.

Battle of Wizna was finished when germans won a last bunker there. Hurricane attacks of artylery, bombardments, charges of two german divisions preceded the end of the battle. After it cpt Raginis killed himself. He hasn't abandoned his position.

Maybe nobody is interested. You should make a thread about Jews or about polish girls, then you'll capture posters interest and they'll buzz about like flays around ....!

What is the sense in developing threads which one day will land in Archives and will be closed for ever?
I have lost a few threads in this way, though I had planned to continue them after a break...

If you want to add to a history thread that is archived, you could ask for it to be made live again

What is the sense to developing threads at all? Its not like it has some eternal or educational valour, the only value such threads have is becouse they provide information and allow poster to exchange their views on a many subject.

Hrrr....Maybe. But I see that at least few are interested. Besides, maybe should you start a thread about Jews and wait how people will be buzzing about it?

Waiting for this how threads will be archived looks a bit helpless.

Who? all three ?
pawian, you and me?:)
I know it all, about September campaign 1939 against Germany the best ever analysis of the military aspect you can find in "Kampania Wrześniowa" Marian Porwit (major or colonel - pre-war).

Besides, maybe should you start a thread about Jews and wait how people will be buzzing about it?

Hey! I can make such a thread or multiple threads that the all PF will buzz, even a "sleeping members" - I'm not a troll, though!

Proves that fortifications buy time, if nothing else. Anyone know why the Germans didn't just advance around it and leave a siege force to wait them out?

Eh? Were you hiding ?

Just didn't happen to draw my attention. My historical education is rather haphazard, and I wasn't particularly interested in the September Campaign.

For example, the 'cavalry against tanks' - I knew a different story than the currently prevailing. There was a German documentary showing clearly ulans charging at tanks. The explanation was, the surrounded cavalry unit chose a surprising charge as a means of breaking through. Tanks formation was the best choice in the situation, and the whole thing showed the clearness of mind of a Polish commander rather, than obvious stupidity. Losses were insignificant, 2 or 3 people. This might've been some other event, though, not Krojanty, I don't remember.

Question remains, how come there was a German cameraman at the ready during a surprising charge.

For the simple reason that these fortifications were build in the most convenient way of advance - for logistical reasons. A Heavy equipment and all those details. :)

there wasn't such action, however if you put on the battlefield horses and tanks, chances are that they will collide sometimes!
