Thread attached on merging:
Poland's history in 10 minutes.

i thought this was interesting and I am sure some of you will argue with some of it but that is the nature of any country's history. (I really liked the mixed music).

Discuss...

Excuse me if this has been posted before but I have not seen it anywhere.

Interesting. However it's good to know alternative views on most of the events.
I didn't know it was only Polish-Lithuanian army that won the Grunvald battle. :))) Something new for me...

I had forgotten that the Russians attacked same time as the Nazis, or were they just being friendly and trying to "liberate" Poland :))) depends who thought you what to think.

Sean there's no need to argue on that. Every government writes the history the way it wants, Poles and Russian will always more or less agressively prove diametrically opposite points. That doesn't mean yours or ours is truthful enough.

there's many things you don't know. blame russian education (propaganda) system. Russians are good in makeing vodka but they've never wrote a good history book :)))

The Poles had provided a formidable army of 18000 knights, 11000 retainers and 4000 foot soldiers, to which must be added 11000 Lithuanian knights and foot soldiers, 1100 Tartars and about 6000 Bohemians, Russians, Moravians and Moldavians who came to help the Polish-Lithuanian State.

you ruskas were drop in the ocean :)

You certainly know everything, the most educated pshek ever, your system is not propagandistic, history textbook are perfect and vodka better than Russian. Now keep the good mood till going to bed. ;)

You better say there were no russkies at all... well... there were some but they were put into flight as only battle began.

Yep... Modern Russia claiming Grunwald victory because of 3 "Rusyn" regiments (about 3% of total forces) from Smolensk area, which was under Lithuanian control... Really fascinating...

Grigory, ask yourself is there any source you're able to believe in that provides us with other, tweaked figures? I guess no, since it's all about your personal belief.
Therefore let's stop on your last thought

Actually no, there were three Smolensk regiments which were made up mostly of ethnic Lithuanians and one Kiev ( arguably ) regiment.

These forces constituted less than 1000 troops in an army between 35 and 40 thousand and were mostly infantry, as such they joined the battle at its last stage when Jagie³lo ordered the infantry to attack changing a victory into a total massacre.

No matter how we look at it Sasza russian contribution to Grunwald was marginal or none-existant at all.

Also please refrain from anti-polish sentiments or i will contact the moderator and get you banned.

Who are you to ban anyone?
And if anything I have seen that Sasha has never had 'anti-polish sentiments', he was just expressed his views which he is entitled to.
If we start threatening bans to people who don't agree with the Polish point of view then that makes us not much better than certain neighbour's of ours.

Russian version sounds simple: We've won all battles and liberated all of you.
And now we are going to win The Mother of All Battles with the Great Satan lol.

C'mon... you're putting it too positive. Why not to mention here that at least not all the Russians think in this manner. Good to mention as well that's not a specific feature of Russians to overestimate deeds of their country along the history, this inheres in all the nations.

Matyjasz, versions are different and I'm not familiar yet with the one that convince we[Russians] won the battle. I'm prone to perceive it as the best piece of slavic unity, since I can't know for sure what really happened there. Unfortunatelly I failedto find the most detailed description which I read maybe a year ago. Hopefully I'll find it and translate some parts of it with the description of Russian (and tatar btw) contribution.

His views are often racist and blatantly anti-polish, would you like me to find some quotes where Sasha expresses his "views" ? I'm pretty sure if brought to mods attention they would not go unpunished, the guy is simply an anti-polish bugger.

Would you like sources ? Only 3 Smolensk regiments are present in both the contemporary polish and teutonic sources and Smolensk at that time was a city in Lithuania proper and inhabited chiefly by Lithuanians so russian claim to participation in Grunwald is preposterous.

Of course if you have any relevant sources that claim russians took part in the battle i would be gratefull if you could forward them ,even in russian :)

I think you are being a tad over sensitive here, but rightly so you have the right to bring it to the moderators attention and please do if you so wish; however, don't be too surprised if they just laugh at you ;)

:) Not only anti polish... It is not surprise for me. You can find a lot of his unfounded "views" about other European countries and other kind of lies here throughout this forum...

There are many different sources and versions but in case of "Rusyn" input that goes from 0 to small. If you know any other sources/version then please share with us. I'm sure we will enjoy them :)

Nice little film. I'm no scholar of Polish history, but wasn't there a cossack invasion in 1648? What about the Swedish invasion after that? Is it my imagination or was there a Warsaw ghetto uprising? And what about the Polish uprising after that? Was the holocaust not part of Polish history?

As Russians use to say: vot ti daiosh, vania ti bliad. You have "special sense of humor" and I really appreciate it. Saakashvili is person, not a subject to be called country but I question whether clones like Medvedev and Putin can be called country like Russia. I believe Russian society deserves better president not those xenophobic ones.
