Na Wilno!:
You must be a coward then.A little bit of gunboats diplomacy would quickly solve our problems with Lithuanians.Maybe they would even return Wilno.

Or will ruin Poland's prestige. Vilnius will stay in Lithuania, of that i am certain.

Na Wilno!:
Poland needs a strong leader to show Lithuanians their place like in 1938.We should close the border with them to teach them a lesson. They will learn quickly when they will have to travel to Europe via Ukraine or Scandinavia. If that want help send some F16s to bomb Kaunas (as Wilno is a Polish city).

The beating that Poland will take from Lithuania's NATO allies after such an attack would be interesting, as would Poland's swift expulsion from the EU and NATO.

Closing the border would achieve what, exactly?

Na Wilno!:
I just don't understand why are we so soft on them when we can press them in so many ways for instance by closing the border and/or Możejki and they done without a single shot fired.

Closing the border isn't exactly possible when all the barbed wire was removed anyway.

Or they could humiliate Poland - or have you forgotten how they stuck two fingers up at the Soviet Union?

I can just imagine the headlines now as big Poland attempts to bully tiny Lithuania.

I guess I'd rather have Tusk as a prime minister than yourself - go figure

Do people genuinely believe in Poland that Poland could force Lithuania into anything these days?

Really? No,it would be just like in 1938.

Oh really? We would control the whole Lithuania before the NATO would even call a meeting and then we would negotiate new border with Wilno in Poland.NATO and EU can go to hell but they would get over it.

You think it's that much of the problem to put it back there? It's not.

Like in 1938?

Yes.Poland can press Lithuania but Lithuania can not press Poland.
We can also harras all the Lithuanian trucks transiting thru Poland. We have a whole arsenal of measures which could be used.

It is not interwar era. No polish leader would be dumb enough to try to change borders, because it would cause a lot of undesirable effects and destabilize whole region. In short, Poland would have nothing to gain, only to lose.

Ah yes. One year later, Poland was humiliated. And you think it's wise to repeat history?

Alternatively, NATO would order an immediate ceasefire - and when it wasn't obeyed by the renegade Poles - they would spring into action. You could also easily see a situation where Russia gets involved to protect her people in Lithuania - meaning Poland would be under attack from all sides. End result : Poland humiliated and internationally isolated.

It's no problem to put it back, but you'll find the other borders suddenly close up too. Poland would be paralysed within days if the borders were closed.

Good luck with that - I imagine Poland would be begging for mercy within minutes of being told that EU funds will not be paid until such nonsense stops. Incidentally, harassing trucks would hardly force Lithuania into submission - there are such things as ferries, you know.

Poland isn't going to risk everything for the sake of a few right-wing troublemakers in Lithuania.
