isthatu2: One of the first things that I noticed at the main camp was the fact that most of the pictures on the walls, the mugshots, didnt show men with stars of david badges but predominantly dark coloured triangles(presumably red for politicals etc) so I imagine most of the Isreali kids who vist will spot that too even if they are at risk of being fed a skewed view back home. The mug shots were chosen by whoever set up the museum so that doesn't mean anything. But my kids who visited Auschwitz were made aware by their teachers and guides that the main camp was started not specifically for Jews but for Poles and that Birkenau was the extermination camp that functioned mainly to kill Jews. They are not fed a skewed view and they are also not fed a "universalist message" like the one I heard from an American tourist when I was there – "We are all guilty for Auschwitz", and "It wasn't Jews who were killed here, but mankind" and similar bullsh*t.
