What do you think about Modern Germany today? It's not the same as Prussia or Nazi Germany of course but it still has a certain link. Do you think Poles will overcome the image of Germany after the years of "friendship" and peace with their "friendly" neighbor? Or do you think it will all turn bad again?

Prussia lives on! In my heart!!! *wipes tear from eye*
One day it will rise again...jawoll!

Prussia badass

...But no, today's Germany is not Prussia...to many Bavarians, Thuringians, Saxonians, Swabians and whatnot innit....

Of course the german national team wears still the prussian black and white colors...the sign of the army is still the cross of the order and prussian virtues are still seen as very admirable and are the base of many german stereotypes...the traces are all there...

prussia was a vassal to poland? seriously, what are some of you on?? hmm

but to answer your other question... poland will be vassal to germany or at least there will be another conflict between the two nations.. that's just the way it is.. i can't really see it not happening in the future.

prussia was a vassal to poland?

Yes - for 172 years (1469-1641). In 1618 Zygmunt III Waza allowed Prussia
to form a personal union with Brandenburg (first Polish mistake) and in 1657 they got
complete independence from Poland (second Polish mistake, but we were pretty much
forced to do it) for the price of Brandenburg quitting their alliance with Sweden during
the Swedish Potop. This allowed Prussia to form, together with Brandenburg in 1701,
the Kingdom of Prussia.

Ever heard of Ho³dy Pruskie? Prusy Ksi±¿êce? Prusy Zakonne? Doesn't ring a bell?

I can't believe it - Polish History 101... that's really sad.

Just so you know, it took Prussia, Austria and Russia together to take down Poland (Poland-Lithuanian commonwealth)

Just in case you didn't know lol

This is true.

In the past few hundred years, it always took more then one nation to hold down Poland.

One nation by itself, always had a difficult time holding down Poland.

Its no accident that the Nazis made the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact with the Soviets to hold down Poland TOGETHER.

Now that Germany is opening her borders for Polish workers, will the relationship get closer?

In the long rund how can't it be?

Neighbours, no borders, freedom of movement for people and goods...

I would say Germany does a lot better then Russia(former Soviet Union) after ww2 when comparing them both with their relationship with Poland. 1 big plus was that Poles and Germans shared their "animosity" towards the SU as them occupying their lands.
(both Western Prussia,Silesia and DDR hehe)

Now it's just practical stuff - like the Collegium Polonicum in Slubice should become one university with Viadrina and suchlike.

One sad part is that despite the borders coming down and so on - there's still only one school in Frankfurt (Oder) where Polish is a compulsory language.

Dazu waren die Preussen ueberhaupt keine Germanen, sondern Balten. Ironisch, was?

Furthermore, the Prussians weren't even Teutons, but instead Balts. Ironic, huh?
