Elena: I am Russian and Ive been in Krakow in 2006 (visited my Polish friend 2 times), and can compare. Honestly, did not see too much difference in lifestyle compare to my city in Russia where I am from, so did not find that lifestyle was higher. I saw middle class, that my friend belongs. I met people who hardly meet financial ends despite work. Of course, there are rich people as anywhere else. I found everything very expensive compare to levels of income. However, I am from very big city in Russia where generally life is much easier, so I cannot say about other places in Russia (like small towns) as well as in Poland. Also, I want to mention that I never ever have been insulted due to my Russian language, reverse, everyone helped me and I saw only friendly attitude. I can speak English but I had to sue it in very few occasions. All 2 months I was there, I had feeling that I am in my city..same architecture (I dont want to say that Krakow doesnt have its own distinct places), same food, and same people...It was a real surprise for me, but I never felt like I was abroad. May be Poles and Russian should forget stupid stereotypes and cliche about each other and understand that reality and people are totally different. I usually never participate in forums, but this time just wanted to tell a few words. Wish everyone the best
Excellent post, Elena. Thank you very much for it!
