Back again and again to WWII. Dont they deserve memory?

The role of Poland in World War Two is often misunderstood and under appreciated. The myth that the Poles were easily and quickly knocked out of the war is just that - a myth. Poland had the fourth largest army combating the Germans, the most highly decorated navy, the largest, and most effective, resistance organization, and made numerous other great contributions.

It was Poland responsible for the cracking of the German code, and the subsequent smuggling of an Enigma machine to Britain. This enabled the Allies to decode and read German messages, one of the greatest intelligence coups of all time, and one of the most important contributions of the war. Were it not for Poland, the war, at best, would have lasted longer, and at worst, would have ended in a German victory.

actually the cracking of the enigma code was a joint venture with british, france, america and as you say poland. The polish only cracked one version of the enigma code. The polish army was completely annihalated by the german war machine, no matter how much you over glorify your weak efforts. and for you information the largest and most effective resistance was actually in germany.

August 1939 the British established the Government Code and Cipher School at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire.
They were.. Experienced codebreakers, secret service officers, mathematicians, scientists, crossword experts, international chess players, students, actresses and even astrologers and debutants.

Fortunately for the British codebreakers, in the years running up to the war Poland had worked on various techniques for cracking Enigma.
Shortly before the German invasion of Poland, they shared their work with their British allies.
Poland's government was the first to employ mathematicians as code-breakers, and the mathematicians' logical minds proved to be just what was needed to tackle Enigma.

This vital headstart from the Polish, coupled with the unique problem-solving and intuitive thinking skills of Bletchley's recruits,
Meant that Enigma was cracked.
In early 1940 a reliable technique for cracking Enigma was established.

Firestorm; I have no first hand knowledge what really happened. This is what I read on the WEB. I also read that Poland secured a V1 rocket that went astray and landed in a swamp. It was dismantled and shipped to England. I can only go by what is on the net.

Firestorm; Yes; I was there in 1944. In a small town called Bridport in Dorset. But I know nothing about this subject other than what I read. But with this knowledge it wasn't used to find the German strength at Arnhem.. The same is true in the Battle of the Bulge..There was ample warning, but it was ignored.. But it mattered not. We were expendable. Oh well, such are the fortunes of war.

Well actually i reckon the war was won by the Polish, i think because of the Polish the Germans crumbled, some how i expect, the Polish managed to conrol the Russian weather to stop Hitlers advance. Poland also managed to some how poison hitler into becoming a mad man who lost control.

Ow yeah and did i mention it was down to the Polish that Germany and the Axis lost the war???? maybe i did or maybe i didn't but really they were the one and only reason the war ended, Poland Poland Poland, thank you thank you thank you, it was all down to you. YOU ARE THE NEW AMERICA, WANTING CREDIT FOR EVERY LITTLE THING YOU DID. Leave it alone!!!!!!!!!!.

LOTS OF PEOPLE DIED IN THE WAR SO THAT IT COULD BE WON!!!!!. British, Soviet, German, Italian, Polish, Americans, the list is endless. Trying to claim that the Poles did this and did that, what does it matter who does what??? it is called 'the war effort'. For a country that slags of the Russians so much you might want to take a page out of their book. After you lot had laid down to the Germans having suffered what can clearly be assessed as needless and countless loses, the Russians in the same situation stood up to be counted and if there were two countries that changed the direction of the war, it was actually the USA and the Soviet Union.

Poles are brighter but they don't have this impudence you show us here.

Not a question of opinion. AK was on V1 and V2 for years before British so called "intelligence" even believed in its existence and descriptions. And then they received nearly complete V2 sent to them courtesy of Polish AK (operation Most III

Not by Brits? Didn't they, single-handedly, knock Germany out with only some symbolic help from the US, France, Poland, Canada and about half of the world? And Brits did it all for Poland, of course.

lol, ok yes i'm always bashing the Poles, slagging of the culture and the country itself, hhhmmm, no i don't think so. I may react to topics like this one, yes, i'm not full on going for it though. If you think the things i say are offensive or that i have a superiority complex or whatever you want to call it, then you can think again.

I don't need to start a debate about Mods, i don't really care about their activities and to be honest whatever they do dosent seem to affect me as i don't care if people are banned, warned, suspended. The only thing that gets me is when they continually change things about the website, colour, allignment etc etc.

no no the Brits were not that good on the offensive, just the defensive, the two nations that really won the war were the Soviets and the US like i said on the previous page :)

Achtung Zee Germans are coming, America came in too late as they had to find their atlas in order to locate Europe. They only really joined so they could take credit for the allieds winning. My understanding was the battle of Britain was won by the RAF, with some Polish pilots. All hail the spitfire!
