History of my background - where to start

Hey all,

My names diana and i'm a first generation australian.

My mum is polish and father is polish/german.

I'm interested in learning more about my background and am overwhelmed as to where to start. I've started looking for torrents on poland but can't find where to start.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to some things to download

Hi, If you're parents or other relatives came by boat to OZ, then you can look that info up at the National Archives of Australia. Many poles went to the USA so you can also go to ancestry.com and that has HEAPS of info. At this site you can post a message (or see if other people/relo's are doing the same thing!) looking for US relatives who can steer you in the right direction. I learnt alot there and I also got in touch with a distant cousin who filled in alot of gaps!
