Hi rafik, well in Mexico we have rain beginning with June, July and august even though the rains can continue for a long time(sometimes), you know the global warming affect everything, if you’re plan visit Mexico, mars, April and November, December, are the best option, Yucatan, Cancun are the most beautiful option in Caribbean Sea, also you can go to Baja California and visit EL mar de Cortes or Los cabos, all this options are great.

Hi Carlos,

I am Polish and Mexican. My family is from Mexico City. They were all originally from Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Toluca. Do you have any Polish ancestry?

Lucky you. I've never been there myself. I've only been through the Northern parts of Mexico. It's such a huge country.

I've been to Tijuana once too, but didn't see his family. Maybe they were behind the barn doing something.

indigenas

Doesn't the word indigenas comes from the word India? It's stupid, I know. I thought the true, correct term now is nativo, no?

nativo is the same that original, so you r nativo from poland, but the word indigena use for the prehispanic etnias. there are a difference.

What about for people who speak English only? What word should they use to describe the Native Americans from Mexico? What word is not offensive to a Mexican?

Well, you can call them simply mexican because they live in Mexico to, and then ask for the ethnic group, because there are to many different cultures, Maya, Azteca, Otomi, Mixteco, Taraumara etc....The most of the time is very dificult that you find some indigena on-line because they live in community apart from the general population(not all) but the mostly.

Thanks. The Native Americans from the US don't have a problem being called Indian, like for example, Navajo Indian or American Indian. It sounds like it's different in Mexico. If you're Otomi descent you probably shouldn't call yourself Otomi Indian, I guess. It would be just Otomi.

I looked at the article. It explains that the English equivalent to indigena is Amerindian, which comes from the word Indian. So Indian is definitely the English equivalent of indigena. Thanks for the link.

But it's just not politically correct to use Indian anymore. More like Amerindian or Native American as English equivalents.
