Homesickness of a Polish immigrant from UK

I have been living in UK for 5 years.I settled down,happy,working,friends and love!
But I am missing more and more my country. For first 4 years I was sure that living abroad was exactly what I always wanted. Because of big interest in traveling,meeting new people,see how they live.
Is someone who feel the same?

It would be fantastic to leave at home!

And one day you probably will. Most of us go back home eventually. Every time I worked away for long periods I got homesick. Then when I got home I got the wanderlust again.

I know some people in the US who came here to earn some money. Well, it wasn't what they expected. They had to work hard, had to pay bills, overstayed their visas, are here illegally and after 7 years they want to go back to Poland. They miss their country, they never learned the english language, no relatives here and they feel homesick, so they will be returning to Poland this year.
Some people find it harder to adjust, having friends and family in Poland to return to, memories, others don't want to return, working for the almighty dollar.
Money is not everything.

I visit Poland 2-3 times a year.Hours on the phone!
I am actually quite ok in here.
I could meet so many non polish people in this country and I am fascinated with it. Still learning new things and see Poland from different point of view! That is interesting really.

I wonder if it is possible to be completly free of homesickness?

The memories will always be there.
But if you are engaged in the life in another country, those memories will not take over your mind.

In my case I don't miss Poland.I miss my family and friends but not the country.As far as I remember I always wanted to live somwhere else irritated by some aspects ofPoland and Poles like religion and politics.I married here in Canada and I am happy .I'm sure I'll never go back to Poland but I try to visit from time to time.

When Polish people come to work in the UK they might meet and be working with people from all over the world(depending on wherabouts in the UK).This is a great experience(some British/Polish people do not appreciate it) and Poland is not too far from the UK so if you can divide your time between Britain/Poland you will get the most from life.
