Hi Guys I am shortly moving to Krakow and about to start a flat hunt, I hope to find a nice flat for around 1,500 złoty Per Month! As I have never been to Krakow, any tips on the good bad areas would be welcome. Thanx

Well, most areas of Krakow are kinda okay, if u live in the city centre, you will be okay, just avoid aread like Nowa Huta or Podgorza, since they are quite dodgy...
If you are living outside the centre, Bronowice or Krowodza are nice areas with easy access to the city centre by tram or bike.

Good sites to look for a place are gumtree dot pl to start with!

Good luck in your move, if you would like any additional info, pm me since Ive lived there for 2 years as a foreigner

Pozdrawiam,

dxx

Im also moving to Krakow next week and am hunting for an apartment. My range is slightly higher (1600-2300zl with media, electricity, etc) but still am having a tough time finding anything decent in stare miasto for that price using gumtree and gratka.

Funny. Good luck. Nobody would rent there. And not for that price!

Try Krowodrza.

I am looking at Stare Miasto, Kazmierz, and Krowodrza (that's where I will be working). I still would definitely prefer something in Stare Miasto (a studio or small one bedroom) but we'll see how this ends up.

Most dangerous district in the city. High crime rates. Though I loved living there when I first came to Poland. Though I lived in Glasgow most of my life;)

Nothing at all wrong with Nowa Huta or Podgorze, you can get great value flats in up and coming areas to live.

Great! I'm looking forward! :)

Yes i know it has a bad reputation, but i read the wiki page and it seems like a very big area so maybe it's only a few areas where most criminals live?

I don't believe that Scottish cities are extremely unsafe so if it can be compared to Glasgow i am not afraid to move to Nowa Huta. ;)

jarnowa, I think you are very brave moving to Krakow.
You might change your attitude because of all the 3rd worlders here that you will have to integrate with.

Wrocław needs someone like me, otherwise it will look like a 3rd world city in a few years because no one is warning against multicultural degradation.

Strange you say that as Glasgow has the highest murder rate in Europe.

Don't talk BS, jarnowa. You and I know full well that there are hardly any foreigners (accept for some tourists) in Wrocław. And ... I've never seen you on Rynek warning passers-by for "the things to come".

You should try it once. I'm curious as to the reactions of the crowd.

Big mouth, ehhh ... ?

Historically, it has that reputation alright. Not so sure if it's still deserved.

These days in the UK, you are more at risk in the more mundane (to me, anyway) places like Leicester, Nottingham and, of all places, Southampton.

don't forget Leeds and Birmingham. in comparison, Edinburgh felt very welcoming.

i just think Krakow has more to offer, the only bad thing is you and your 3rd world friends living there.

how at risk here? it's like tarnishing everywhere with the same brush .. you have good places and bad ... only having the experience and knowing yourself can anyone really say if a place is bad or good .... but at the end of the day everyone has differing opinions and this has to be beared in mind what one person says might be different to how you percieve it to be!

jarnowa:
but i read the wiki page

no dear *shakes head* not the best source to use to gain information from!

You think you'll find like-minded racist idiots who blame their shortcomings on others and treat women like possessions?
