Warsaw, Poland 18 January, 2007. A rare hurricane that has hit Germany See will reach Poland within the next 24 hours. Winds of up to 180 kph are expected througout Poland.

People across the country are being warned to protect things on their balconies from the high winds. Drivers are warned not to park under trees and to avoid driving if at all possible.

Northern Poland is still recovering from the damage that was done last week when it was hit with high winds of up to 120 kph. Winds of 180 kph can be expected to cause much more damage in the region as well as damage in other parts of Poland.

High winds are expected to start this evening and will begin subsiding tomorrow.

Maybe connected with the exceptionally high winds here in the UK today. Gusts of up to 105mph (160 ish KM). The weather system is headed out of the North Sea and going East with real cold winter weather behind it.

At least 7 people killed in the UK today cos of the winds. J

ust got home from my work to find my fence two houses down. Travel chaos on road and rail.

I've been off-line because of the storm. We've just got our power back. The house opposite lost some roof tiles and a shop sign got blown down the street. Those who were outside were walking at a 45 degree angle. Heavy rain and high wind, but we have had worse. What we got wasn't a hurricane but it was bad enough.

I'd like to hear from other people in Poland.

Austria's getting it too. Winds are about 160km, sounds like a 747 is revving up outside my window, but so far *touching wood* no damage.

If you've got a hatch, batton it down!

I've just been out with the dog. You wouldn't think we had a storm. All is peaceful and calm. Just a few roof tiles on the pavements/sidewalks.

looks like the safest place to be might just be the local watering hole, as they are normally older building, think i might have to find a nice warm pub
