How do I get English subtitles to play on my Katyn DVD?

Just bought Katyn at a Media Markt here in Krakow, Poland.

How the heck do you get the English subtitles to work? Is there a trick I don't know?

Never bought a DVD here before, so maybe it is something very simple.

Any techies out there willing to help me?

I already went to main menu, napisy (?) and then chose angielsku, but it keeps playing the Polish subtitles at the bottom of the screen, no matter what I do.

I really want to see this film, but I cannot speak Polish.

I have no direct experience with this dvd but I've heard of other people having the same problem in accessing the English subtitles so it may be a problem with the pressing.

I read one place that the English subtitles do appear when played on a computer instead of dvd (!?!?!)

If you have no computer available, my only suggestion is to try everything. That is, try every subtitle option there is, from the menu and from the remote control. I have a dvd where two soundtracks are reversed in the menu and on screen so that the menu and screen say one soundtrack while another is actually playing (and vice versa).

Other than that, if you saved your receipt, I think this would qualify for a refund from Media Markt.

Mine played on computer, never tried the DVD player...

I'm not sure if it would play properly in Canada...
